Hey, I got a ticket from Beverly Hills PD for parking in a 2 hr zone. I know that ticketassassin says if the ticket is written wrong it can get thrown out. Can anyone confirm this? I believe my ticket has an error and I want to get it thrown out; but I want to make sure this is the right way to go before formally going through channels to fight it. Thanks guys!

48, and to me it's a lot and at the very least I'd like to get it reduced. I think it's stupid you need to pay to park everywhere in LA and its ridiculous, but that's besides the point.

well in Chicago the metered parking rates just skyrocketed, now 8 minutes for a quarter in most areas, but to answer your question...it depends.

I've been in traffic ticket court before for a slew of tickets that I was able to get dismissed but I had proof and pictures of obscured signs, etc. It depends on what the error is, if its a big error (i.e. pontiac instead of BMW or black instead of red car) they will dismiss it. If its a minor error they may not be so nice (small error like one plate letter wrong , etc.). Also depends on the judge. They check the meter history and accuracy, sometimes they just dismiss it if the meter has a bad repair history in the computer.

When I contested I had about 10 tickets in one month all from the same officer all around 2:30pm each weekday and I was not in a metered area and was able to prove it. In this case, I needed to stop the idiot from meeting his quota.

u can always send in an appeal for a parking ticket... however you will probably lose... unless they made a huge mistake...

Okay thanks guys...I was parking in a residential area and there were no meters; so how do they prove I parked longer than the posted time... just chalking? cuz I had chalk on my car when I got back to it...

I've parked there numerous times in the past and have had no problems, which kinda worries me

if they chalked you, how are you gonna prove yourself to be innocent?

Usually in "Chalking" zones the patrolling officers have 2 common methods. One is that they come by hourly on a set route and chalk all cars. After chalking it once they will pass by and mark it a 2nd time and if they see it a third time then they will ticket you. Also the officer could have a set and established route that by design takes 15 minutes longer then the parking zones allow you to park for so when they come by they mark your tire and if they happen by again and your tire is marked then you get a ticket.

The practice has been around for decades and is pretty well tested in court, but good luck. For me personally I would lose money just in the time I would spend trying to fight a $48 ticket.

If it means or is worth that much to you then fight it, but if you can make more money by putting your time and energy elsewhere then just pay it and move on.

if there is an ERROR on the ticket, and the officer knows about it when he give his probable cause statement, he can amend it right there to the judge. if it's an error like the wrong car year or something, it's not enough to get off on a technical. now if he got the tag number or the date wrong and does not amend it, you might just get a win on that one.

I would not contest one ticket like this in person. If there is an error, it may be worth a shot at contesting by mail, not much to lose.

pay the ticket you CANT WIN! trust me I have had more tickets than GOD and I know that once they decide to fine you, you either pay that amount or end up paying double bc time period has expired and your "appeal" has done nothing but waste time and cost you more money/stress.

Bottom line is the parking nazi's in LA are no joke, I have tickets for expired meters that have literally only been expired 1 minute and yet there is a meter maid printing me a ticket as I watch, and even get to thank him for it after he is finished. assholes!
