Red CF Interior/JB e92/Lots of Pics/Sexy Beast!
****I thought this thread would be best posted within the Cosmetic Modifications (exterior/interior) ........... if it needs to be moved to wash/wax then Mod Gods ........ please do so!****
Some may have known that I was going to attempt the red CF/Kevlar wrap this weekend. I was excited to get started as I had never attempted this before .............. the excitement was over very quickly. The "what the HELL was I thinking" pretty much covered the rest of the day for me. First of all, the product I used is not a CF fabric that is so widely used within the forum community. Nope, I had to make it difficult and go with a material that does not stretch, stay "together" or remotely make it easy for me. The product unravels as easily as a ball of string after the first cut which made it extremely difficult to apply and trim. Because the job really isn't finished I haven't taken any reall close up shots yet. If I decide to keep the trim as is then I will apply a resin within the next few days. The resin will clean up the edges and keep the material from fading, collecting/becoming dirty and losing it's vibrance. The resin to be used dries clear as water and is made specifically for use with this CF. Before anyone points this out ...... notice on the passenger door trim that there is what looks to be a bunching of the fabric on the trim just below the door handle. This is something else with the pictures ...(a couple taken at about the same angle) ... I even checked again before posting the pics and there is nothing abnormal with the material or trim. The pics were taken without a tripod so some were not in focus. I decided to take some glamour shots of my baby cause she was looking so damned fine this evening ........... lots of pics ![]() First piece wrapped I'll save the details and skip to the finished product...... the majority of the shine is due to my using the flash ...... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by ToadHollow; 03-22-2009 at 10:52 PM.. |

The black fiber is what made the job so difficult. If I had it to do over again; I might like to see what the "red" CF would look like not having any black at all within the weave.

damn i love your car! what lip is that on the front? I put the black C/F vinyl in my interior....i was thinking of the red but i'm glad i didn't, the contrast doesn't look right to me... A+ on the exterior though! Very tastefully done...

To be honest, I wasn't sure of what to expect. This the REAL carbon fiber ........ not the material. Because of that this stuff is a total PIA to work with. But, it really does look much better in person. ![]() |

Man, at first glance the top pics, I was like, OMG that's not gonna look good unless it's going into a BMW Fire Truck...LOL.
But once you got to the installed pics....that's friggin smokin' man!!!! Did you do the coating like you talked about...does it make it look wet? That's sick. Good job. That took some creativity...and some balls!

Thanks for ALL ... yes ALL
![]() ![]() The more I'm around this "look" the more appealing it becomes. I know it looks shiny in the pics however, the pics really don't do justice to the overall effect. I'm leaning on keeping it installed and IF I do ............ the resin that would be applied will knock a little bit of the sheen without giving it a dull look. Made a trip to the shop (AR Design DPs were installed this morning!!!!) and was given props for the contrast .......... I'll give it a week before I decide on keeping it ......... Thanks again everyone!! ![]() |

![]() ![]() The resin (dries clear as water and removes "some" of the sheen) may be applied later this week ....... we'll see. ![]() |
