No, the AUX input is for audio only, no display or control other than adjusting the volume. It sounds like you need the Ipod adapter.

If your Ipod is connected to aux you will only AUX on the display. You will have to look at your Ipod to see what track, title, artists, etc that is playing. Your dealer can sell you the Ipod Interface and install it. There is probably a DIY in this forum so you don't have to pay for the install. I hard wired my own XM radio using a DIY. I am sure you can find a cheaper place to find the part other than the dealer as well.

if you have no ipod connection and you connect to your AUX, it is just the same as if you were to connect any audio device. (MP3, CD players, whatnots).

Think of your car as a major headphone and you just plugged your car into your iPod.

Sound is indeed good on aux as it uses the sound quality of the song minus any distortion in the cord. It will defintitely sound loads better than fm radio

Little note about the adaptor. You can install it yourself, but it wont work until you take the car to a dealer and have them program the car to allow it to work. Expect at least an hour of labor for that.

thats a link to my experience w/ the ipod and bluetooth retrofit.
