BT scan of E90 335 with JB+ (code thrown)

My vehicle is stock save for JB+ set at default setting.

code 2D25: Manipulation Cover, maximum air mass.
BT say MSD80 and had dealer upgrade to 32.1

safe to say these tunes aren't invisible. that being said... clearing code and turning up the boost.

I think there was another thread exactly like this one. Not good to know JB+ is throwing codes. According to Terry, JB+ should be "invisible" at default setting, only at higher boost is where it may throw codes.

I will have bms contact you to do some tests. May have to change default boost to +2psi. Adjustability is nice.

How do you find out if your pre-29.2....build date on my car is July 2006 but the dealer might have updated it since then.

not sure...You would have noticed I think if they updated it. Otherwise that build date should be pre 29.2. mines a 12/06 build.

I bought the BT (enthusiast) version as soon as I heard about it and did a little research. I did not have a tuner code since I am pre 29.2, but it gives great piece of mind having the tool.

I think everyone with a tune should consider some kind of tool to clear codes before going to see the dealer. Likely the dealerships will be calling a BMWNA tech over to examine cars with the tuner code and discuss warranty status.

OP = Good thread, the more info out there the better.

I found this the other day.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...32&postcount=7

I think the BT scan produces the E89x-... number and that table converts it.

Doesn't it run more boost than JB+ on default setting? Can you lower the boost levels with the JB+ below default?

LOL if the JB+ @ 2.75psi default throws the code you can bet the SSTT @ 3.5psi does. At least with the JB+ you can adjust the boost level up or down as needed.

It doesn't work that way Mike. If the JB+ alters IAT (unlike the SSTT) it can have have secondary influence on diagnostic invisibility. In other words, it's not just about boost as Terry once suggested. Which people are figuring out now with these new fancy diagnostic tools.

The JB+ does not alter IAT. But any change that effects the air density calculation will push you closer to detection. Be it IAT manipulation, TMAP attenuation, or otherwise.

So what would be the suggested setting to avoid this code given this new information?

Obviously default but apparently even that setting is throwing codes, that is the lowest boost setting on the JB+

The JB+ is adjustable from ~1.75psi over stock, to ~4.75psi over stock, using the blue adjustment dial.

Default is 2.75-3psi, so there is plenty of room to go down as needed. We may change the default suggestion to +2psi.
