New Car Today- Alpina D3 Biturbo
Got my new car today, and mightily impressed. I had a black Alpina D3 monoturbo and have part ex'd it for the new Biturbo (BT) E90. Its been released in the new LCI form and looks much better for it.
Many of you will have seen the white UK press car, and its actually this one that is mine!! Its a marmite car and always has been but makes no difference to me. All comments are welcome, but I love it. Someone on this forum knew it was mine, but the press release pics were already done before I bought and took delivery of it. New Prof sat nav with HDD is amazing. Full spec is: Alpine White, Black Dakota Leather incl HFS and ALPINA Roundels in Seat Backs, ALPINA SWITCH-TRONIC, Electric Folding Mirrors, Electric Glass Sunroof, Storage Package, Front Sliding Armrest, Black High Gloss Interior Trim, Rain Sensor & Auto Headlights, Adaptive Lights including Xenon's & Headlight Wash, Professional Navigation Multi-Media, Climate Control, Voice Control, Hi-Fi Speaker System, Sun Protection Glass, ALPINA Decal Set in Silver Think thats it! Oh one more thing.....its got the BMW performance steering wheel too, albeit with alpina logo instead.

He failed to follow rule # 37 of piss taking.
37. If replying with the use of sarcasm, append emoticon to the end of the comment, typically a rolleyes or ghey smile. ^ From piss taking rule book. JJ |

(subsection to the above, from the same piss-taking rule book): In cases where it is bleedin' obvious that sarcasm is being used or the piss is being taken, the emoticon stated above may be (and usually is) omitted

First of all, fantastic looking car!!
Buuuut (and I don't mean to be rude here) I can't get over that price tag.... £40,000, is that true?! Thats a lot of cash for a 2.0 diesel !!

Well, given that he - and all Alpina owners are stung for climate control, if you spec up a 320d m-sport to the OP's specification you arrive at about £38k, list.
Now let's see what you get for the extra £2k... A twin turbo 2.0 litre diesel, not a single one, with uprated pistons and a few other mechanical changes. How much would that cost you to uprate - VISA won't help so it must be priceless. A better suspension system than the standard BMW choices and NO run-flats. 19" wheels which are pretty special whether they are your personal taste or not, instead of the un-interesting 18" wheels (you can't get 19" as standard on the m-sport saloon.) A better body kit than the m-sport offers - no dull grey plastic diffusers. It's an Alpina! - a real one. Therefore there are Alpina "markers" inside and outside the car. I haven't included the cost of servotronic or partial electric seats. If the OP has them then the m-sport becomes more expensive still. Would I have a "similar" spec m-sport or this Alpina when the difference in price is a few thou? The m-sport wouldn't get a look in. |
