It's a GO, for an OCC install.
The Oil Catch Can Is Officially a Go! well i got the good news you all said i would. showed the top-shop tech at my BMW dealer the DIY video posted by Riss Racing. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=172225
he said he will have no problem w/ the catch can being installed in the car, if it is their during the warranty period. and added that he believes it is a great idea after seeing first hand in the BMW shop, w/ all that oil build up w/out an OCC. the sole provider of this gem for our turbo BMW's is Riss Racing. http://rissracing.com/alpha/ yes, i can go to a turbo shop and design my own Oil Catch Can from their inventory, buy my own hoses, etc. but why go to all that trouble. Riss Racing has done it all for us, w/ it's complete install kit you can get w/ your OCC. right now they only have the polished ones in stock. soon to get the coated OCC w/in a week or so. i'm going to wait for the coated one. it will look more like OEM equipment under the hood, and this is the look i want. so it's time to call Riss Racing, for my OCC & install kit. all for under $140 delivered to my door. thanks to all the members who pointed me in the right direction. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=243912 thx, the education for me continues. A very worthwhile investment for sure!
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. One installation note....the stock plastic connectors might be difficult to remove from the breather tubes. I found heating them up with a hairdryer made pulling them apart much easier and safer. |

i warmed them up with a lighter, 30 sec was enough to get it off.

you'd think w/ all the oil flowing thru there it might pull apart w/ little effort.
it's not some type of compression fit, is it ? one other thing, does the OCC eliminates the DV, or is it inline w/ it ? |
