Extended Warranty with BMW 100K/2years

my car is at 47K!!!! =( in less than 2 years... so looking to buy the extended warranty.

Need some guidance on how much I can negotiate it down to.

Maintenance only, asking price is $1800.
Maintenance + engine and all parts warrantied (exception are electronics, i.e. Radio, Anything inside the car, or anything programmed with the ECU), asking $2200.

Can someone lend me a hand with this one so i know how to talk to these mofos =)

Thanks!

my car is at 49800, and i brought it in yesterday for new battery replacement and a complete condition report. Anyway, while we were chatting, he was offering me $1500 for 2 yrs maintenance only. However, he didn't tell me anything about maintenance +engine. I know the drivetrain warranty is going to cost couple thousand more, but i forgot the exact number since i am not interested on that program.

Are you guys going to the sales person who sold you the car for the price quotes?

I'd be interested to know what's the best deal on both extended maintenance and extended warranty. Extended maintenance is the cheaper out of the 2 for sure.

iirc the extended warranty is worth it over the maintenance. But I'm interested in both as well as i'm almost at 47k too!

Check out Warranty Direct. They have different pkgs according to your needs. Also they are one of the most reputable warranty companies.

I am at 61k. I did not get either! Make sure you read what exactly is covered and not covered in the plans you are getting. Since I have done enough mods to *modify* what I am actually able to get covered...it was not worth it to me.

I have been to the dealer 2x since hitting 50K.

1. oil change $120 @ 54K miles
2. Vehicle check $175 @ 61k miles

I figure...as long as my visit costs out of pocket are ~$200 each time...then I can go at 7-8 more times in the next 39k miles before I have spent what it would have cost me to warranty the car in maintanence/parts. So, unless I have something huge go wrong...I think I will have saved money in the end by just paying as a go along. Because I do not think I will have to go 7-8 more times before 100k miles.

When I was thinking about it before, I asked what was going to be done in the miles 50,000-100,000

1. 3 oil changes
2. air microfilter
3. windshield wipers
4. vehicle check
5. spark plugs
6. rear brakes
7. clutch

I think that is...from what I can remember. And since I have an automatic, and have already gone with BMW performance brakes....I would only get #1-#5. I figured I would just pay as I go.

If something big starts to go wrong.....I figured-trade that shit in or carmax.

I have Geico and am getting the Mechanical Breakdown Insurance. You pay an extra 20 bucks or so a year for it when your car is still under waranty, read about it here. You have to have it from when you first get your car but then you can keep it for 100K miles. Looks pretty good to me so far...

I read on another thread that a guy got both packages for $4,000...but he got that price at the time he bought his car. I'm thinking it'll probably be closer to $5k when purchasing in the late 40k mile range.

LOL that's my plan too, Miguel. Right now the majority of the depreciation has already been done so mind as well ride it out. If something severely goes wrong, there is a Carmax 3 miles from my house and I'm taking it in to get appraised.

Are you going to trade your car in like that or revert back to stock? HAHAHA.

I'm asking the same question as well. I got the maintenance extended at the time i got the car but i didn't get the warranty extended. Someone i know suggested going through DFS where they cover you 7 years/100k, anyone heard of them?

Cheers.

i picked up an 06 E90 330i with 25k miles and 1 year left on the warranty 2 weeks ago. I bought it from a non-BMW dealership and they offered me a $2500 extended warranty for +6 more years or up to 100k miles. i bit and took it, i can cancel and get it refunded (prorated) anytime. It's called Totalcare and seems to cover almost everything? There's only a $100 deductable.

This is the website: http://www.easycare.com/benefits/pro...vice-contracts

I'm still wondering if I should keep it or not... I do plan on keeping the car for AT LEAST 3 more years, but i can definitely see myself keeping it past that.

+1 Warranty on the car is very important but as far as the maintenance I've skip that since most of the things can be DIY's. I think they were charging me 1600 just for the maintenance and 2500 for the warranty. I took the warranty for the 2500 till 2013 or 100 thousand miles.
