financing?

hey,

i saw an x5 that really like at a bmw quebec dealer. i was wondering if any of you guys know if i am able to get financing from there dealership? since i'm an ontario resident. and do i pay one tax or taxes? thank you.

I believe that it is BMWFS, and not the dealer itself, that does the financing, so it shouldn't matter where you live, but you could ask just to make sure.

As an Ontario resident, you pay Ontario PST not QST. I believe that this is actually legally true for everything: if you buy something in Quebec, you're supposed to give the Ontario gov't its 8% and get a refund from Quebec for its sales tax, but nobody does that. Since cars are registered, the provinces are able to do this automatically. I bought a VW in Quebec once, and it was no different from buying it across the river in Ontario.

If the car you're looking at is used, it is possible that the rules are different, though I'm not sure why they would be.
