Does the water pump and fans run 100% on the track

I was talking to Scalbert about this earlier and he thinks under extreme conditions they are running 100%. I'd assume thats true as well, but am not quite sure how to check.

If they ARENT running wide open, I was thinking of plugging in the BT scanner and putting it at 100% at the next HPDE.

Any thoughts? Comments?

Interesting, so you are considering activating the fan and water pump to run at 100% prior to leaving the pits? I assume both are running at 100% during track runs, but it's a good thought.

that's the idea. I dont know how to check if it's at 100 % now though. I can't see any negative effects.

I wouldn't. Your car has coolant targets for best operation. If it's not at them its working its hardest to get to them. If it is at them then you shouldn't be trying to get it cooler.

The BT scanner does not have a function to check real time data?

We use Autologic and it tells us in percentage the fan is running at in real time.

sorry to ask, but this is my first BMW. Isn't the water pump usually driven by the timing belt or chain? Do we have electric ones?

Electric on the N54 engine.

H20 pump speed can be increased through a software flash.

Thats interesting. If it is already "targeted for best operation", then why increase the speed through a software flash?

I'm almost certain my water pump and fan are 100% on the track, but that may be due to the Dinan flash.
