Dinan Stage 2 ECU Download

So I'm seriously considering this upgrade from Dinan. They're having a 15% off sale and the installer, At Speed Motorsports in Hanover, Maryland is taking an additional 5% off. What do you all think?

Peak Horsepower: 384 horsepower at 5700 rpm
Peak Torque: 421 lb-ft torque at 4300 rpm

Sounds fun to me

I also have the Dinan Stage II ECU flash and have enjoyed it since the install.
The 15% off is a Dinan rebate however, the extra 5% from the installer is a bonus. Install takes 3-4 hours and you'll swear you have an entirely different car.

Your warranty stays "intact" so it really is a win-win situation. What was the total OTD (out the door) price the installer quoted you?

That'd put you in the ~4.2 seconds 0-60, ~12.4 seconds quarter mile range. Traction + reaction times willing.
Near Corvette numbers.

They didn't quote me an exact price but he said it's $1999 minus the discount. 1,999 * .8 = 1,599.2. He also said it would only be one hour labor and with the post 02/08 manufacture date, they'd have to send it to Dinan in Cali b/c of the new firmware.

First of all, you would be getting a smoking deal with the discount ........ I paid $1850.

What firmware are they referring to? Dinan released their "new" software in lieu of the BMW updated sw just this past February. Maybe the retailers outside of BMW haven't been afforded as such yet?

Well.. your warranty is actually voided. Dinan just covers warranty related issues rather than BMW. Check out the Forced Induction section for more details/reviews from other people. GL.

According to the Dinan rep, cars made after 02/08 (also on the Dinan site to some degree), there is an newer firewall that the Dinan authorized places cannot overcome.

I was wondering if there were any limitations between dealer & retailers ......... this answers that.

Warranty coverage is warranty coverage no matter HOW you want to view it.

From what I understand and have been told by VERY reliable sources is that once the BMW Performance product line up is in full swing that Dinan will be squeezed out of the picture. My local dealer will not become a retailer of Dinan because for this very reason.

Then again, I was told this last Spring and then again a couple of months ago by a Dinan tech at a separate BMW dealer. Right now the demand for the performance parts that Dinan offers is such that severing a relationship as exists between Dinan & BMW would cause chaos across the board. ........ customers (past/present/existing ...... warranty issues .. UGH.)

The dinan numbers are at the crank, so you'd be getting around 310 hp 340 tq to the wheels, estimated numbers, however, you'll sure feel and def. love the torque. If you're not looking for aggressive numbers and simply want to enjoy your 335i with a little more of a kick, yet maintaining a peace of mind over warranty issues, I say go for it, I did, and I couldn't be happier good luck

I'm curious about how this will affect my factory warranty now. How will BMW know, and if they find out, are all bets off the table for anything, even things seemingly unrelated? What about the oil changes and scheduled maintenance?

I'm not sure how BMW will ever know unless you tell them you have Dinan, so just make sure they never upgrade your software or else you'll have to get Dinan flashed again.. no issues with regular service and scheduled maintenance though

So what about these horror stories I've been reading about? Such as the other one in this forum about his warranty being voided.
