What do you use to dry?

What do you guys use to dry your car everything seems to be scratching my car. Absorber works well, but once it gets dirty its just anoying. Then I got a waffle weave and I can feel my car scratching.

If you are scratching your car from drying then you are either not washing your car well enough and leaving dirt on the car or are drying with some bad drying towels that are dirty to start with or are just shitty towels.

There are to many great MF towels on the market to ever have a problem with them scratching your car.

MF towels. i buy the bundle pack at Target for like 5 bucks. after i use them i wash them then use them again. usually can get about 2 uses out of them, then i have to buy new ones. I have had 4 black cars never had any problems with scratches or swirls. I heard leaf blower is great as well.

You said you can "feel" your paint scratching. You might be in need of a clay because the scratching feel could be imperfections that are lodged in your clear coat and when you pass over them with a towel they feel gritty or 'scratchy'

Just my guess.

+1 Good point.

Also, another tip you can utilize when drying your vehicle is to sheet dry the car prior to putting a towel to your paint. This involves removing your spray nozzle and flooding your car from the top to bottom. This will help remove a majority of the water before you even put a towel to your paint. I'd also recommend blot drying with your towel, rather than dragging it across your paint.

Hope this helps.

I use MFs. But good point about possibly needing to clay bar the paint. Make sure you are using a sheepskin mitt and good soap.

The water is very hard here in AZ and so spots are a big problem. I originally used two waffle weave MF towels. I went over the car quickly with the big one, and my wife would follow behind getting all the details. But that was not always convenient, and she quickly got sick of my fanatical (read: weekly) washes.

So I tried the sheeting method that George mentioned, and it works great!! With nothing attached to the hose, so it's just pouring water with no pressure, I go from top to bottom, and make sure there are minimal drops.

Then a single MF towel is enough to get all the leftover water off the car without spots.
