Aftermarket/OEM iPod adapter and iPhone 3G
I have an 08 335i E92 and I want to be able to charge and listen to music through my nav system. I have read in the forums about some issues doing this with the OEM dealer-installed kit. What is the deal? What do I need to get so I have 1 plug that charges and plays music from my iPhone 3G [I want to be able to use the Nav to do playlists and such].
Any help is greatly appreciated. |

I have an 06, so im kinda out of luck as far as integrating the iPhone goes...
My Mother just brought an 09 328, With the newer version of I-Drive and the OEM Ipod connector, I do get the Initial error message that the iPhone (Just click no to Airplane Mode), but after that, it charges and plays music, with the playlist right up on the Navi Screen. So if you have that new one like she does in your 08...you should be fine with the OEM set up... Otherwise we gotta talk Bavarian Soundwerks into making their kit again... I really Wish I had brought one before they were discontinued.: http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/pr...0-E91-E92-E93/ |

I dont think you can get that one to display on your Nav, but since I dont have nav I dont really know. Maybe some one can chime in here that does have nav and the dealer installed ipod interface.
As far as charging goes, if you have the 3g Iphone, all you need is an adapter (www.cablejive.com). If you have the firstgen iphone you dont need this adapter. I have this adapter with the Dealer installed IPOD adaptor and it plays and charges no problems. On a side note, I would suggest having the interface installed somewhere other than the glovebox. It sucks having your iphone in the glovebox :P You can see my writeup here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=175658 I had mine installed into the center console and then bought a phone mount. Have a look at the pictures. I highly recommend this setup because you now have access to your iphone and you can do other things like run Pandora or another internet based music service. It will play in your car.
