VK IC installed

I tried to install it on Friday morning but failed because the holes on the tabs were off a lil and I had to go to work. I tried again this morning with new holes drilled (all it took was around 2 min) and it fits perfect.

Thank you! This is what I've been waiting to see.

It gives me a sense of how much more (inter)cooling capacity the VK piece has.

It doesn't look any much bigger than the stock IC.

Since this is a simple bolt-on, hopefully sometime soon someone will test both on the same day so temp/humidity are controlled.

It's like, uh, 20% bigger than stock? Maybe that's enough?

Just to eductate a little guys. The test that proves the intercooler is worth it is testing the AITs before and after. Dyno will tell you nothing. If you run a map that is specifically for an intercooler than you will see higher numbers because the TUNE is taking advantage of the lower AITs and pressure drop.

Think of it like this... how do you test to see if an upgraded oil cooler is working well? Not with a dyno, but by testing to see if the oil is cooler. An intercooler is the exact same.

But then that also proves that the IC is working better than stock.

If the car consistently makes more power with the more aggressive FMIC map, then you know its working

JP, the IC is about making consistent power. I think people lose their mind sometimes on this forum with dynos. You are never going to get real world data on a dyno. The fan is not adjusting to your speed. If you get consistent AITs, then the rest is accurately inferred. You can manipulate the map to make consistent power. Consistent AITs tell the entire story.

Consistent AIT's do not tell the entire story, it only tells us how efficiently the FMIC cools the air - but that's it. My testing will show how much more power the car is making over the stock fmic on the same dyno running a map designed for the FMIC vs. a map designed for the stock FMIC. Combining all the data would be the "entire story".

You are very argumentative with me about this stuff... I have never said testing AIT's was a bad thing and I've never discounted your results. You make it seem like I have. Consistent power is the main reason one gets an upgraded FMIC, but with that (among other things) comes the ability to run more boost and make more power, which I will be testing.
