335i Intakes - Ideas?
I have thinking about adding an intake over the past few months, but have read many, many mixed posts, listing the benefits or cons over stock. Has anyone dyno tested the new Injen Intake over stock or have facts regarding temp drops? Is stock the best way to go to keep temps down, as many have said temps rise with dci's and that the gains from dci's are very ?????? Will adding scoops help, or possibly the RR plenum with scoops or with a dci? One upgrade for sure that is in my future...a fmic and upgrade to either JB3 1.3 or Proceed V.3 (CANBus?) (currently running JB+ @ 100% and solenoid bypass).
Thanks. |

I vote for the RR set-up.
You have an open filter so less restriction. The filter is drawing the air from the cooler corner of the engine bay with the scoops and a large plenum (using both vents) blowing the cold air directly onto the large filter. Also, both turbos will get the same temperature air. If there is an advantage to sucking cooler air, then I think RR has the best of both worlds. |

The nice thing about the 335i is that it really doesn't matter what you pick. They will all have the same pick up in HP's. So the decision, as i usually the case, comes down to vanity with utility, or just utility.

Does the UR CAI, work any differently than the others? It seems to have the filter sitting much lower in the engine bay?
Has anyone seen a rise in air temps to the turbos, as some have reported with the open filters? Rise or drop in hp? Thanks for all of the input. |

I have the UR CAI...the filter is down in the front bumper, Im not sure about the intake temp differences but that might be something that we can test this weekend. Mike has the DCI so you can check that out too.
