Solid Triangle Symbol in i-Drive screen
Hi Guys,
I have a 2008 335i Coupe and have noticed on three occasions, that I get a solid white triangle symbol appearing in the i-Drive screen next to the mobile phone antenna symbol and reception bars. I'm using the current 3G iphone and correct cradle. I've scoured my manuals and handbooks which came with the car and I contacted my service guys at my dealer, but it's not something which anyone has an answer for - yet, so I thought I'd post here. Any thoughts or ideas? It doesn't seem to affect my phone reception and I'm not using my iphone for music - I use my Touch for that. Many Thanks, Phil |

Cheers mate, I'll have to test that. I think it might be more the latter ie; missed call because the last time I noticed I was parked outside my work (waiting for the missus) so was well within my normal area but could've missed a call - hadn't thought of these as possibilities so will test and let you know.
Much obliged to you. Phil |

Well, it's happened again and I checked to see if I had any missed calls - I didn't. I did have some e-mails but even after reading these, the triangle symbol still appears. I don't think it's roaming either because I'm still driving around in town with full 3G access, so I guess it's back to the drawing board.

Attached is a photo showing my iDrive - if you look at the bottom of the iDrive screen, you'll see the solid white triangle that I'm referring to. It's got me beat as to what it means.

Worked it out.
It's an advanced German safety system, it detects that your not looking at the road and the triangle is telling you to look up at the road rather than the iDrive screen ![]() |

I would vote for roaming. Missed call looks like a little mobile phone symbol... at least on the Business Navi, I assume it is similar for the Pro??

I don't have I-dirive screen in my car but a similar symbol came up on my display when my phone gets the first "low battery" warning. It has happened with my Motorola K1 and now the Blackberry.

I've recently gotten this symbol in my car.
My iPhone usually runs on the Telstra NextG network as its carrier but when it can't find the NextG network it automatically changes carriers to the the 2100mhz network owned 50/50 by '3' and Telstra (3TELSTRA). The symbol appears when my carrier is 3TELSTRA (i.e. iPhone can't find the NextG network). So I think the car thinks my phone is roaming as it's not on its native NextG network, even though I still get 3G coverage via the 3TELSTRA network. |

Thanks everyone, I scoured my manuals but I could not find anything about this symbol. I'm also on the Telstra 3G network but as I was driving around town (Canberra) I didn't think roaming was necessary. But hey, the consensus seems to be this is what the triangle symbol means so happy to go with that. Many thanks to all who responded.
