Full soft on KW2 compare to ZSP

Hi folks,

I'm tempting on a suspension mod on my E92. Please help me out as I'm new to this

I need advices on what would fit my requirement. I haven't done suspension mod to my cars before.

My need:
- I do ~15 autocross events every year. I hated the car rocking left and right on slaloms. It's much worse than the last E46 ZHP.
- I did ~2 Drive schools on tracks each yr. (hopefully more if there's $$)
- I live in the NYC and this is my daily ride
- I don't have problem with RFT+ZSP at all in NYC.

1. Is there a kit with adjustable shock and firmer spring that would help?
2. How stiff would it be on Full soft settings on suspension kits such as KW2 compare to stock ZSP? (don't want to kill my passengers on NYC roads)

the biggest problem is probably going to be the reduction of suspension travel. also - kw recommends not running "full soft" or "full stiff".

mwahlert is right.
The V 2 is not designed for the full soft or hard.
You will have a very bouncing short travel feeling. Tried that setting.
V2 is geared for performance handling but can get you
a decent ride quality compromised a little from ZSP on street side.
If you looking for lower car but still comfort ride,
Eibach Pro spring is your best bet. My wife can't tell
when I have Eibach pro spring with stock ZSP.

The V2s are going to be stiffer than your factory suspension but I find them perfectly fine for daily use. I have mine set at the half way point and they are plenty smooth for daily use or long trips but also reduce body roll and significantly improve handling over the factory sport. As the guys mentioned above, don't set it to the extremes but you can set it to about 3/4 soft for an even smoother ride. I really find the KWs to be the best of both worlds as they have a wide range of height/compression adjustment but still offer that mix of performance and comfort.

Hey Billy, Think I remember your name from E46fanatics.

Anyway, sounds like first thing you are looking for are some sway bars there are options out there from UUC, H&R.

As to stiffness, you'll find it quite to be quite stiff on it's normal setup even on the V2 settings. With the amount of tracking you do you may want to consider going with the V3's to dial it in to your setup.

i disagree - i find that the pro kit springs were too soft for being so much lower than stock. as you go lower you need to go stiffer to limit the suspension from bottoming out as easily.

i THINK i am running kw street comfort now. have previously had kw v1 and eibach pro kit/koni fsd. i ordered kw street comfort but have a bad feeling the parts may not be right as the car is still sitting very low - much lower than expected according to height claims from KW.

street comfort kit also uses linear spring as opposed to the same progressive spring used on v1-v3 kits.

That could be because you have FSD with Eibach pro. With stock ZSP I don't have bottom out issue. THat's one of the reason I switch to V2 at last minutes.

That seems to be a trend with them. I noticed that too in other cars (non BMW) with that setup

I've had good luck in the past with H&R OE sport springs. stiffer than stock and almost no lowering. not sure they make a product for E9X though
