Ipod Issue

Ok, so I have an 09 E92 with iDrive. Have an Ipod hooked up. Playlists presents themselves on the iDrive Control Display. In one particular playlist I can select the songs via the contoller knob but after a while it goes stupid and the only way to select a song is with the steering track select buttons. Can't figure out why. Anyone else have this problem? Just seems to be that one playlist.

by "steering track select buttons" you mean the arrow keys on the steering wheel as in you can only select the next song or go back one song, then yes! i know what you mean! i have this on my 09 idrive sometimes, everything is fine, plays music, reads playlists, etc, but sometimes if i wanna scroll down through some songs, and try to click one, it wont let me click it, the way i found to go around this error is by shifting the button to the left "brings you back a menu to your playlists" then enter the playlist again and it should work (does for me), i have no idea why this happens, but i'd be interested in finding out why.... for now the back arrow trick is how i go around it, its fine i suppose, just can be a little annoying to some people...

lemme know if this is what u mean otto

Exactly!! I vowed to not get wrapped up in the little gremlins in another BMW. Dumped a new model 740i back in 2002 because of all the crap it did. Good to hear the work around. May drop by the shop and ask if this is a common issue they see. I'm sure they'll say it's a defective ipod. I'm going to put another ipod in with the same playlist and see if it acts up.

could be the ipod maybe, but ive only tried with the one i have, it happens on different playlists sometimes as well, but clicking back always fixes or "refreshes" it

Tossed in another ipod, same playlist. Seems to be an Ipod issue. No problems. For now I'll just leave the "good" ipod in the 3. Problem is I'm going to look strange at the gym with my daughter's pink Ipod I bogarted for the car.

Update....playlist on a different Ipod does the same thing. So it's the E92 going stupid.

Sounds like iDrive going stupid. I'm using my old iPod mini with my non-iDrive E92 and it's working fine.

I have the same issue and use the same work around. If I back out to the menu's to the main list of IPOD music source choices (album, artist, song...playlist) and reselect the playlist area I can again select individual songs from a playlist via the control knob.
