No, this isn't another thread about Nikon vs. Canon, but rather a survey.
After seeing just how many people here on Bimmerpost own DSLRs, I wanted to see how many of us own a Nikon or Canon DSLR. I don't care if you own a Nikon but prefer Canon, or vice-versa; it's about the DSLR that you use right now. If you own more than one make, choose your primary. And I'm not going to bother adding Pentax or Sigma individually. There's an "Other" selection for that. ![]() And keep the fan-boy inside you away from this thread. This isn't another place to discuss one camera make's superiority over another. |

Voted Nikon. Neither is better, both take excellent pictures. The most important part is the twelve inches or so behind the camera.

if you know how to use *any* camera, you would be able to take killer shots with anything.
i do prefer nikon though.

been canon since 2003. i love them, but even if i wanted to go nikon it would be too damn expensive to switch at this point. regardless of what you shoot, you will get great photos with both bodies.

I decided to go the canon route since i have always enjoyed their point and shoot cameras. I also found that there were more used Canon lenses if I decide to go that route.

I shoot Nikon, have shot Canon, don't get why anyone would shoot Canon with cameras like the D300 + D700 + D3 around lol but to each their own.

Same reason as to why some people don't get why others shoot Nikon. I never get why people diss something and then follow up with "to each their own." But yeah, to each their own.

Body doesn't matter much. Canon and Nikon both make fine ones. I bought into Canon because at the time Nikon didn't make long IS primes. Now I shoot a 24/1.4, a 65mm MPE and a 300/4IS as my walkaround kit (and add a 500IS for birding) - kinda hard with Nikon bodies.

Some trends are just aligned to each other along Camera lines. A few empircal points I've gathered about the two:
1. Canon owners own a Mac while most Nikon owners run a Windows-box 2. Canon owners drive an environment-friendly car, Nikon owners don't focus on it (outside of this forum obviously) 3. Canon owners are Democrats, Nikon owners Republican 4. Canon owners are Runners, Nikon owners are Gym-rats The list could go on and on, but just from pure observation - they tend to fall along those lines. What does it mean? Nothing. Sorry for the slight /OT Twitchy.. |

ah, what the hell. i hate discussions like this. but work is slow today and i need entertainment. :]

i find this funny, and quite opposite. of course. primarily, canon has been the widely-used, mainstream camera of the digital age. windows computers are the widely-used mainstream. canon's like walmart (republican) - they have everything. camcorders, printers, scanners, calculators, copiers, fax machines, medical and IT equipment. Oy. nikon just makes cameras and optics (microscopes, nano-tech optics, binoculars). canon cameras are designed by engineers. nikon cameras are designed by photographers (and a guy who designed the BMW M1, Ferrari's, Alfa Romeo Brera, . . . .). when you think of canon, you don't think of design or ergonomics. do you agree that the ergonomics of the nikons definitely have an edge over canon's? it's largely pretty agreed upon from both camps. how much sense does it make to have to put stretch your thumb to a 90-degree angle when holding the camera just to change the aperture? - pure design flaw, and canons are littered with them. disclaimer: i'm not talking about the sensors in either company's cameras, just the design (form and function) of their bodies. they both have the right technology to get the job done.

Hostility hostility.. generalizations are just that - half wrong and half right half the time, these were just my observations, nothing more nothing less but I find it funny folks take it so personal.
Everyone hates being stereotyped but people love to be defined. Both are great cameras and my observations says nothing about them as do the generalizations. None of them are bad, just different. Post your own if you disagree. |
