BMW tire and wheel replacement plan with aftermarket rims
This thread is meant as a help for anyone who may have questions.
I have recently been looking into new wheels for my car, and in doing so have made some inquiries as to my replacement plan. Obviously aftermarket wheels would not be covered, however I was curious about the tires. I called the company who actually completes the claims and asked if I went from a 18" wheel to a 19" wheel would they still cover the replacement of the wheel. They told me that if I went with a OEM tire (say the M3 tires) they would honor the agreement up to the cost of the tires sold with the vehicle. i.e.- My car came with 255/35R18(Rear) and I replaced them with 265/30R19 tires(Rear). Say I get a flat, and the original tires cost $400.00 and the new tires cost $450.00. They will cover the full amount of the original tires, leaving me a bill of $50 to have my new tire replaced. ![]() All you have to do is contact them when you get new wheels/tires and inform them of the new wheels you have on your vehicle and they enter it in the system so if/when you file a claim there are no issues or questions. ![]() For those with questions who want to call the tire/wheel replacement company, their number is (800)346-6469. Edit: Apparently different dealerships use different companies for the insurance, all this information is for IAS InTire. However, I think it also serves as a good baseline for all insurances. Bottom line, call your insurance company for their policy.

The dealership told me that even if I switch to aftermarket wheels the warranty is still good for the tires since the warranty is tied to the vehicle and to to a specific make/brand of wheels/tires. I guess I'll find out for sure when I get my first flat LOL
