Fitted My new springs
well finally got round to fitting my Eibach pro kit, it has made the ride 100% better, hasnt affected the harshness at all, but has stiffened it up alot in corners, just wish it sat a bit lower but over all im impressed, just my msport bumper to go now (when I get round to it LOL) and possibly tint the windows??

Mine was just standard SE suspension, so I will have noticed the benefits of the eibach's more than yourself with you having sports, im really happy with the upgraded ride, just would have liked a lower appearance, however I didnt want it the ride to suffer.

well maybe a few mm? i think its more the linking components settling after the springs have been fitted. thats why its always good to do an alignment a few hundred miles after having them fitted. 'i think'!

I believe these springs are progressive. Your BMW's suspension is designed for linear springs and you might find that you actually make the handling worse.

what i dont understand is that bmw spend millions on developing new cars and the ride handling so how can it be that spending 150 on aftermarket springs can improve the handling, why dont bmw just fit them

Or if BMW spend millions developing new cars and the engine and management syatem, how can a £300 aftermarket remap make the car faster and more economical, why dont BMW just do it in the factory?? The answer I think, is probably because they use the parts they do, to keep the cost down, and the aftermarket upgrades are just better, the proof is in the pudding as they say. Im sure someone else can give a more technical indepth answer as to why the BMW standards mentioned that so many people upgrade are so bad, but all I know is, the upgrades are better LOL Last edited by bloopeta; 04-25-2009 at 11:07 AM.. Standard engine mapping is a compromise designed to work in a huge variety of road conditions, temperature and fuel quality. Getting a remap to work in the UK on V Power fuel will always provide better performance than the 'one size fits all approach' that is taken by most car manufacturers. I did read your first post. It depends on how you drive your car and what you mean by handling as you may not notice any problems the new springs have created (if any). You may find that you have introduced more oversteer or understeer at the limit. You might find you now have more bump steer when pushing on. There is a vast array of 'real' information on the Suspension section of this site with mathematical calculations to disprove a lot of the subjective crap that is written on forums. Some of these experts race cars and are suspension engineers with the necessary test rigs. If you are happy then that's all that matters ![]() |
