Dinan no longer!!?

So I have yet to hear back from my main service rep at my BMW dealer...but they told me yesterday that BMW has asked all their dealers to no longer install Dinan! They had no more info then that. I'm trying to get confirmation from my service rep if this effects the warranty coverage if you install Dinan from now on..but it sure sounds like the warranty matching days...at least with cooperation with the dealers, may be over! They told me their had been some friction for awhile since the BMW performance parts...and BMW is working with Alpina to develop more of their own ECU flashes. I'm sad if this is true because I had planned on putting the Dinan Stage 2 flash on my car for that reason alone....the warranty matching. Anyone have anymore information?

Interesting to hear. I don't know why they would refuse to install Dinan parts though, if they're more than happy to install aftermarket parts, like exhaust and intakes.

I don't know if it's true, but a few months ago, I saw steve dinan give a presentation down here and it didn't sound like they were stopping anything

i have heard the same thing from my SA. however, they will still do work if they were a dinan dealer, but it takes forever because they have to contact a dinan rep and get authorization to do anything first. then they have to submit an expense claim and wait for a check to be sent over. before they would just do it and iron out the details after i had left.

I wagered this exact situation the day the BMW performance parts were announced. There are some serious questions as to how future warranty servicing will take place for current DINAN owners. If there is a bunch of back&forth just to get warranty work done - that doesn't bode well for current holders of this tune.

This has been happening for awhile. SF BMW stopped doing Dinan stuff over a year ago. It has everything to do with BMW Preformance parts and nothing else. Remember that it is Dinan that covers the warranty not BMW, so it does not matter if they stop installing their parts. Just go to Dinan.com and read the website. They have a whole section just on warranty coverage.

NEWS RELEASE
Canfe Ventures Provides Qualifying Transaction Update

VANCOUVER, BC – April 13, 2009 – Canfe Ventures Ltd. (“Canfe”) (TSX‐V:FEY.P) reports that that it has
entered into a definitive agreement for the arm's length acquisition of 100% of the shares of common
stock of Dinan Engineering, Inc. (“Dinan”) which replaces the letter agreement reported in Canfe’s news
release of January 12, 2009. This transaction (the “Proposed Transaction”) is intended to qualify as
Canfe’s "Qualifying Transaction" under TSX Venture Exchange Policy 2.4.

develops performance enhancing software for BMW engine management and other control systems.
Dinan’s service centre division operates automotive service centres which provide automotive
maintenance specializing in high performance BMW automobiles. The Dinan service centres also act as a
retail sales distribution channel for Dinan’s high performance products and software. Dinan’s Engine
Development division produces high performance engines for BMW automobiles for street and racing
applications.

Dinan has been featured in over 77 road tests and 12 cover stories in the automotive press. For more
detailed information about Dinan, see: www.dinancars.com/bmw/press.
In conjunction with the Proposed Transaction, Canfe and Dinan have signed an engagement letter with
Canaccord Capital Corporation (“Canaccord”) to sell, on a commercially reasonable efforts basis, units of
Canfe at a price of $0.30 per unit to raise gross proceeds of up to $3,000,000 with an over‐allotment option
of $1,000,000 (the “Concurrent Financing”). Each unit will consist of one class A common share of Canfe
and one‐half of one share purchase warrant. Each whole share purchase warrant will entitle the holder to
purchase one class A common share of Canfe at a price $0.40 for a period of 24 months from closing. A
preliminary prospectus relating to the Concurrent Financing has been filed with, and a receipt for the
preliminary prospectus has been issued by, the securities commissions of BC, Alberta and Ontario.

Why would they delete that? Odd...

I believe Dinan has pulled all their associations with dealerships. You apparently can only get Dinan stuff directly from Dinan. That sure is gonna slow down their sales.

I think the main problem is that whenever there's a problem with a 335 that's equipped with a dinan tune neither bmw nor dinan want to pay for warranty work regardless whose fault it is. I think that's why they never became sponsors of one another (if that’s the correct word to use)

hmmm, this will be interesting if true, but its not the 1st time I've heard claims of Dinan this or Dinan that.

we'll see.

oh, and you can still get Dinan products from resellers around here. AtSpeed racing is local to me and one of the largest Dinan retailers around, Steve was just there a few weeks ago and we all went over and chatted with him.

I guess that depends on the dealer. BMW of Austin does not like to install aftermarket parts...only OEM

I believe you are 100% wrong!
You should do a little research before you start spreading false information. I was just reflashed at MY DEALER with no problems.

It's not Dinan, BMW is leaning on dealers to stop selling non BMW performance ehancements and a lot of dealers are doing as requested

I think that its the direct competition that Dinan gives to BMW Performance Parts.
