The simple fix is to install resistors, which we offer for $15 additional.

Resistors equalize the difference in power draw between halogen and xenon (35W vs. 55W) which is the primary cause of bulb out warning as the computer thinks there is a bulb out with less power draw.

Hi,

I'm researching HIDs for my e90, and came across this post. Doing a search on e46fanatics revealed quite a few people who are not happy with this kit. One example:
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=379508

People were complaining about 1-year warranty vs a lifetime warranty when their bulbs were failing. You stated that they had only 1-year, yet in this thread you are saying lifetime warranty. They were also saying that you were charging them for replacements when they should be free, ie, "warranty".

Also, the Prolumen manufacturer only provides a 1-year warranty (http://www.prolumenhid.com/prolumenhid.htm). Does this mean that you will warrant the product past the manufacturer's warranty? So which is it? Could you clarify. Seems a little fishy/confusing to me.

One final question: Does this kit come with integrated ballasts and ignitors? I don't want to have to mount two things on the car and more wires. As you know, most modern kits (and xenon equipped cars) only have to deal with a ballast to mount. Ignitors are either integrated into the ballast or into the bulb. No additional big box to have to deal with.

Thanks for the info.

That E46fanatics thread is in reference to our D2S bulbs which are different from our full HID kits. The D2S bulbs are just bulb replacements for your low beam xenons whereas the full HID kits include ballasts, igniters and bulbs for your desired fitment (usually fogs). The D2S bulbs do have a 1 year warranty and we do not charge customers, under any circumstances, for any warranty replacement.

The full hid kits have a complete lifetime warranty and is honored through us. The warranty process is as follows, we will go through diagnostics to determine the source of the problem (bulb, ballast or igniter). Upon finding out what the faulty part is, we will request that you send the defective part in for testing and upon receipt of that defective part, we will send out a replacement. The entire process takes no longer than 5 business days. Again we will honor the full HID kit lifetime warranty for the life of the product, as stated. The warranty is provided through us so you will not have to deal with large corporate processes or wait for overseas replacements.

The ballasts and igniters are not integrated because it affords you more flexibility in terms of mounting and wiring. The other advantage is that we can easily replace the igniter or ballast separately as opposed to sending out an entirely new unit, making warranty claims easier to diagnose and quicker to replace The ballasts and igniters are water proof.

I don't like being a buzz kill but I have this kit and resistors for it and not only do I get error messages with it but the car actually turns the foglights off after about a minute... so unless a fix is made for this kit I would say save your money. Like I said I am not here to try to mess with potential sales for Jlevi or anyone else who sells this kit but from personal experience it is not what you want to put in your car...

AW,

Thanks for the heads up. I was worried about error messages being thrown off by the car's computer. I tried to do research and found out that some other bmws have problems with these prolumens:

http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...d.php?t=521364

These prolumen kits probably need to have more R&D done before being sold to us e90 owners.
