If you want to try it yourself though, I'd recommend this route: Vacuum it out very thoughroly. Buy a Bissell Little Green Steam Machine and use this on all your carpet. Use a good vinyl/plastic cleaner on all the trim. I like Meguiar's M40. If you have leather, I like Leatherique. If Vinyl, use the same M40 that you can use on the trim. It's versatile. Get a couple paint brushes and use them to clean out all the nooks and crannies. I think that's a good place to start. It will take hours, but it should look pretty good when you're done. |

I would recommend the following for a nice Interior spring clean up......
1) Remove, bag or sort all loose objects from the vehicle, ie door pockets and any storage areas... 2) Remove floor mats and thoroughly vacuum. 3) Thoroughly vacuum all carpeting area for debris. 4) Split the interior into 1/4's, Drivers area, left rear, Passenger area, right rear. I like to work in a counter clockwise method 5) Starting with the Drivers area first, clean and dust from top to bottom knocking down any loose dirt. I like using a large 24 x 16 Micro fiber towel, using water or a good APC (All purpose cleaner should be mixed accordingly) Meguiars APC is what we use...wring it out so the cloth is damp.... Wipe the seats down, door panels, headliner, seat rails, foot pedals and all the nooks and cranny's using a pastry brush or paint brush and Q-tips for vents and small areas. 6) After you have wiped down all of the interior, proceed with the carpets and mats. Using the APC, lightly mist the mats, brush, towel dry and then a final vac. Do the same for the carpets, Stay away from extractors they tend to leave a musty smell inside the vehicle. 7) Treat all leather and vinyl as a last step followed by using a QD for the nav screen, wood or carbon fiber accents. We would do the glass last for that ultimate sparkle! I have included some photos to illustrate the tasks invloved........ Dave @ Innovative Detailing Last edited by Innovative Detailing; 04-21-2009 at 05:24 PM.. |

Carpets only: a good vacuum, and then see if you can get a hold of the small bottle of Chem-dry. It's a carbonated cleaner, bubbles the dirt to the surface, then you wipe it away with a towel. Dries in no time since you don't get it all that wet to begin with.

Folex works well for the stains in carpet. Spray it on, then blot with a clean white terrycloth towel per the instructions.
I've noticed that HomeDepot has started carrying Folex (big white spray bottle with purple writing) in the cleaning supplies section. |

Dave's advice above is very good. Just don't put any cleaners on the steering wheel - you don't want to make that a glossy, slippery surface. Unless someone makes a product that doesn't make it slippery now?
