This one's closer to the US than avian flu was iirc. Maybe it'll have more of an impact because of this? Look at how stocks like NVAX went up last week.

Panic, drama and everything that medical companies love to see . And we sure don't wanna forget the news agencies, newspapers, television shows and everyone who may benefit from this kind of panic mode everyone gets into. I won't bother really, did the pigs and birds panic when I got the flu? Don't think so :P

I'm actually going to Cancun (well Maya Riveria actually) on May 8th. My parents live down there - I'll use them to gauge whether or not it might be worth reconsidering. There are a few articles with interviews of tourists who are returning from the cancun/riveria section and to be honest nobody even really knew it was going on. While there's certainly caution that needs to be taken, I'm trying to figure out if any of this is over-caution. If you actually check the google map of where the current cases are, they are nowhere near Riviera Maya area. Living in NJ, it seems like I have a better chance of catching it if I stay here since physically there are report cases closer to me. I understand the concern going on, but I'm not going to freak out about it. Last edited by Jet335i; 04-28-2009 at 12:49 PM.. |
