newbie saying hello

Hi guys & girls. This is my first posting so go easy. This is my first BMW and i thought i would jump in at the deep end and got myself a nice 56 plate 335d m sport.
My last car was a golf GT tdi 170 which i thought was pretty good until i got this.
It is an absolute joy to drive and i jump in it at every opportunity to drive.

I have been looking around the forum but was wondering if anyone could point out any usual things to look out for / get checked.

It is still in BMW warranty so am going to book it into Eastern in Edinburgh for a once over.

Cheers

Chris.

Welcome to the forums Chris.

To learn more about your car you could try coming to this next month

I feel certain we have quite a lot of Scottish members and certainly enough to make a Scottish meet worth while.

Read the Technical forum to get an idea about problems with the E9x.

Oh, and as always in this place:

Welcome and nice choice of motor. Just browse around here and you'll soon pick up loads of top tips. Shouldn't be much to look out for just because it's a 56 plate apart from the usual wear & tear items (brakes, tyres, oil, etc). A trip to a dealer will point things out but have you considered a local BMW specialist. Being a newcomer to BMW you'll find their labour & parts charges higher (??) than VW. If it's still in warranty you might want to stick with the dealer at least for the first check-up.

Any questions just post on here, it won't be long until you get a reply.

As Alan says post some piccies on here so we can see your new purchase. I'm sure there's a guide on here somewhere if you need help. Or, just hit the 'Go Advanced' button and you'll find your way (you may already know!!)

Welcome and fine choice of motor. Any pics? Confused about the 56 M-sport part, didnt come out till after 07, unless its a early demo M-sport?

Hi there!

Welcome aboard; another noob here and rather like you, I've come from a Golf GT Sport TDI 170 to an e91 335d M Sport (well, with a thankfully short interim stint in a company 2.0d X-Type which was unspeakably rubbish, and a S40 2.0d SE which returned similar mpg to the 335d!)

Loving it so far; avg mpg not quite as good as I was hoping for but that's mainly due to the 10 mile stop-start out of town then twisty B road journey into the office I think. 500 mile trip this weekend improved that figure no end; and that's really where the car plays to it's strengths IMO.

thanks for the replys

Thanks for the welcome and replies.

I checked the V5 and it is definetly a M sport A - registered 19/12/06.

The fuel econemy is actually beter than i expected. Im 'enjoying it' at the moment shall we say and averaging around 37mpg which is amazing all things considered.

Sods law has already interevend and i have a nail in the back tyre. will need to get it looked at, thankfully it is towards the centre of the tread so i guess it can be repaired ?

ill keep looking and im sure there will be some elusive questions for the knowledgeable out there.

I will get some pictures up once i get her washed.

cheers

chris.

Chris, looking forward to seeing the pics, the car sounds beautiful..

Im a big 335d fan.

Was your car a demo car do you know? Maybe it was owned by bmw and run as a Demo M-sport. But For sure it will be the very first 56 plate M-Sport Ive and im sure others have ever seen.

What plans do you have for the ''Big D''

Yeh, since it's near the centre of the tread you should be ok. Repairs are easy and cheap, you just need to find somewhere that provides the service (if they are runflat's, if not you got no worries).

Hopefully this has worked with the pictures attached.

Dont have any plans for her just yet - still enjoying it the way BMW put it out from the factory.

Cheers.

Very nice indeed. Try to reduce the photos a little bit more before you upload them; makes them easer to view (sorry, being picky!!), saves having to scroll left to right (how lazy are we !!).

Never driven a 335d come to think of it. The auto box alway put me off (even the flappy paddles). Bet you're well chuffed with it.
