Questions about this CSL setup...

Hi,

I have a set of VM CSL 18x8.5 225/40/18 40 offsets from my previous e46 325, and thinking of putting it on my e90.

I was playing around with e90post's tire calculator and when entering my sport package setup against my front with 18x8.5 40off set, all seems alright but i got this comment...

" 12mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will extend to THE SAME point as the stock wheel "

what does that mean? 12mm less clearance?? does that mean i have to use spacers?

And for the rear, it gave me..

" 3mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will RETRACT 3mm "

Somthing to worry about? or i should be fine if i were to just slap it on and have no issues...

Thanks in advance!!!

Tom

12mm is just under .5". The CSL wheels dont have a staggered width, and you are increasing the front width by .5", the extra width is being displaced towards the strut side because of the 40mm offset of the CSL wheel. .5" is not a whole lot but u can easily check how much clearance u have between the strut and wheel. U shouldn't need spacers unless u want the front to stick out more towards the fender.

As for the rear, the width stayed the same but the offset got higher. net effect: the wheels will look more tucked behind the fender as opposed to being closer to the fender well. This is also fine cause 3mm is nothing. If you want to have a more aggressive look in the rear, u can try 10~12mm spacers. I don't have experience using spacers cause my rear offset is pretty aggressive (19x9.5 22mm), so I can't comment on ride quality.

With these offsets on the VM CSL u should be able to just slap them on with no issues.
