Dealer says ED pricing set in stone by BMW

Hi,

I just got off the phone with my CA. I told him I was interested in European Delivery. He told me it's a set price by BMW. So I asked him what the price is and first he said $33110 and then took it back, "oops thats not the right number" and said it's $35990 + $695 dest.

What do you guys think? Should I try and talk him down or try a different dealer?

Always try getting quotes from different dealers..

Unless money on this scale divided by the time it would take to make a few more phone calls is less than the rate you are paid to work, I'd give it a shot..

What he told you is incorrect.

Many dealers have a CA that specializes in ED, so you may want to work with that person instead. Especially since you will be visiting the dealer a couple of times during the process and it is generally best to work with the person who is doing the communication with BMW.

My CA tried that with me when I first talked to him but I let him know that I knew that the ED cars didn't come out of their allocation and that I would like to price the car from invoice. (I had the invoice pricing sheet with me) After he found out I was well informed on the ED process the negotiation went much better.

your CA is -ing u. check my sig, I think ED MSRP was like 43K~44K w/o tax and license, but I got all that for 40K including tax and license. U should shop around and look for a dealer that has experience w/ED. It will save you alot of pain later.

ok, called a second dealer. he offered me $33,110 no options. I was like wow, so if I come in there today, that's the price you'll give me. He said yes, 2 mins later he's like uh, thats a mistake the price is $35,990. Then he said we can meet in the middle.

The number you care about is the first one he gave $33,110. That's the ED invoice price. The second number is ED MSRP. Don't pay that. Try to talk him down. Some dealers will negotiate, some will not. If he will not, just go somewhere else.

As one poster already pointed out, it helps if you mention that you have the ED Invoice prices in hand. If you need invoice prices for options, use the 2006 E90 pricing document for now since, as Rich said, the 2007 sheet is MIA. Most of them are the same price this year, except for premium package and Nav, which went up slightly.

That's not a bad price. You may be able to do better. Some people are getting $1000 over invoice, and one person has even claimed $800 a while back.

I have read of people getting $1000 in New York (somewhat near you).

Thanks! I'm gonna call him back this weekend and tell him I have all invoice prices and go from there. I did some quick math, and the invoice is about 91% (+/- 0.5% mostly due to rounding) of the msrp for all the options including sticker.

I'd keep walking or e-mailing until you find a legit dealer that knows what an ED deal means.

if I were you, I would offer him invoice price + $1000.

Usually, on ED cars, you negotiate from the invoice price and up. And there are a lot of dealers, even out of state, that will give you $1000 over invoice

he should be really looking at an out of state dealer, if the local ones don't wanna negotiate.

always shop around and then if you have two dealers that are close in price, find out who has the most experience, along with being at that Dealership for a while, and also the CA that you're most comfortable dealing with, you generally know right away,if they are going to be the one

ED dealing

I had to work really hard to get $750 off MSRP on an e92 for October.

If it would have been an e90, they would typically do $1500 off MSRP.

I was really disapointed. But they said on a car that new, and limited availability for now, they just would not budge.

After making some phone calls I ended up negotiating to 1200 over. Prolly could have gotten 1000 but I was tired of negotiating and for what another $200 that works out to just a couple of dollars a month in the car payment.
