Help w/ Wheels: HRE, Asanti, 360 Forged Etc!
Hey guys I'm going to buy some rims soon as I have had to replace one tire cuz of a nail and another needs to be replaced for the same reason so I just figured I would go with a whole new set of wheels and tires. I have an e92.
They are going to be 20's. I'm debating between HRE, Asanti, 360 Forged, and maybe another high quality 3pc wheel if I like. First off I know a lot of people on the forum aren't fond of Asanti but let me tell you I'm no going to go all chromed out. Here is a link to the wheels I would be getting. I think they look very aggressive and luxurious at the same time. http://www.asantiwheels.com/Wheel_Bu...?wid=39&sid=18 If I went with the HRE's I would get the 790R's with chrome lip and either powdercoated charcoal, brushed or matte black. I'm not sure. HELP ME!! If I went with 360 forged I would probably go with the Mesh Ten. Also, with a chrome lip, and either brushed aluminum, gunmental or matte black. It is so hard to pick out rims especially when the price is 5-6k range. Any advice or previous experience with these brands would be greatly appreciated. Oh btw I'm not dropped and am on stock sport suspension. Advice on most aggressive setup too please. I went to discount tire once and they were saying I could run 245's in the front and 285's in the back. I thought that was nice but had my doubts about it working. The guy told me their system is spot on and the fitment would be good. Thanks guys. Last edited by JesusFrEAk; 05-02-2009 at 03:23 PM.. |

I haven't seen many multi-piece wheels on a standard E90 mostly E92's but I wouldn't put an assanti rim on a E90 car. HRE is always a safe way to go and 360 from what i read is in alot of trouble right now. Also take a look at this company, they are well known on the boards and I have had alot of success with purchases from them:

I'm no expert, but the barrel quality on those D2 Forged wheels looks pretty shitty IMHO..
And to the OP, your best best would probably be the HRE wheels.

Well according to their site, the barrels are forged 6061 and so is the lip. Most companies with those shinny raw barrels are standard spun aluminum, which is no where near as durable. So I'd rather have an ugly barrel (which no one sees) that's strong, then a pretty barrel that will bend easier. Plus you could always get the powder coated barrel option, then you'd have strong and pretty

This is a true 3 piece wheel. The inner barrel is unfinished like most all 3 piece wheels. I think your use to seeing 2 piece wheels like DPE, Iforged that have the entire barrel chromed. These wheels look very nice

anyone have any recommendations as far as offset, tire size and any other important info regarding the HRE wheels I plan on getting. What does everyone think looks better ribbets or no ribbets.
So did anyone think that Asanti wheel I have a link to looked good??? |

The look of the Asanti wheel is not bad but the ride quality is not the best. What you are looking for when you have an E92 is not just looks but actual quality, how the car rides on the rims is very important. Asanti's tend to be very heavy and the ride quality to me sucks thats why they are considered to be luxury wheels and not performance wheels. your best bet is to go with a light weight high performance wheel from a company like HRE, 360 Forged, Vellano, or some of the other companies mentioned above.

I am taking peoples advice. I already decided to go with HRE's based on the info provided here. Regardless of this thread I was leaning more towards the HRE's anyway.
I just want additional info as far as ET numbers and aggressive tire sizes without stretching or rolling fenders as well as any other information I would need. |
