Anyone going to the Apple WWDC in SF?

I'm getting pretty exited about this as this is the first time I'm going to attend this event. Can't wait to see Steve Jobs delivering one his famous keynotes and getting priceless knowledge and development information.

Anyone else going??

HEY HEY! another mac nut! Hey man, i would have loved to gone but the developer ticket is too high for my budget! I paid the 99 for student developer to get into the ADC store, but that is about as much as i can afford, I am have an Late P.M G4, and a 12 powerbook. holding out for the core 2 duo (merom) in the MBP! I am in school right now for marketing, and some day hope to have Phil Schillers job! Vp of worldwide marketing!

What are you predicting?

I am saying Mac Pro, new mb and mbp, iphone would be nice but i doubt it, and the 6G ipod i also think is a ways off...

well, my boss was kind enough to pick up the tab for the whole trip. it is very expensive to go, no question. $1595 for the ticket alone, over $1600 for hotel and around $1000 for plane tickets. and that's without daily expenses and shit. but hey, my firm is doing well, they can afford it

i think he's going to introduce a macbook pro revision (with a lot fewer bugs, hopefully), definitely show off some cool Leopard features, maybe the iPhone and maybe a new iPod. these are all rumors right now, but just to see him announce anything right there right then will be exciting enough for me.

dude, good luck getting schiller's job! i think they will only accept someone from the family, meaning, someone already running a very successful business. but hey, you never know!

I live a block away from the moscone center, I think I'll be stopping by.

And I CAN HIGHLY reccomend the Westin St. Francis of San Francisco. fastest elevatprs in SF. Right on Union Square, great views, great beds....

beautiful hotel, one my favorites ive ever stayed in. It's generally pretty decently priced as well, but I'm sure its probably booked solid for this event. give it a try though.

I know what you are talking about. I stayed there last year in Oct for a conference. Nice room with very nice bathroom. Conference room kinda old. I agreed, for those kind of room the rate I got for conference was very decent. I am not going to the apple thing.

shit, i wish i knew this before i booked the marriot. son of a bitch! but i'll be barely in the hotel anyway. activities and sessions start early morning and go till about 10:30 at night.

i don't think they'll let you just drop by without a ticket considering it costs $1,595.

Another Mac fan here. I don't do WWDC because I'm not a developer or anything like that. But I'm always curious about the announcements etc.

i was actually pretty disappointed. i excepted a lot more from this and at least something else besides the mac pro which was already semi-confirmed before the keynote. i just got back from the convention center and i can tell you, software wise, i don't think there is any company that would even remotely come close to what Apple has currently in the pipeline. those guys are friggin' amazing!

You are not alone on this! I was EXTREMELY disappointed too, I am going back to school on the 24th at mason, and I will be needed a new notebook! I was ready to order my core 2 duo Macbook pro today! But suprise suprise, NO Macbook pro update! The chips are out, i don't understand why apple isn't adpoting these chips! I understand if they can't ship them right away, but when the macbook pro was first released in Jan, they didn't ship till Feb! I do like the Mac pro, but right now I don't have any need for a Desktop!

1. (While it isn't the best choice) I could spend the 2+ grand on wheels and tires
2. I know if I order the current macbook pro I know the next day the core 2 duo will come out! (plus i want 64bit support, and everything else core 2 brings)

So all and all! I am pissed, no iphone (i wasn't really expecting it but still), no new ipod, no New products at all (media center, movie store, ect...) Leopard looks GREAT but nothing good now!

that is EXACTLY how i feel! i've had my powerbook for 1.5 years now (way beyond my update cycle) and have been ready for an update for a long long time. i was really expecting a revision and core 2 duo with lots of bug fixes. and nothing.

we're not alone though. after the keynote, many people walked out of the auditorium with blank expressions in their faces. it was a very unusually structured presentation too. usually, he starts off with update on the music store, iPod market share and blah blah blah. then he moves on to OS stuff. afterwards, he announces the cool shit including his famous "one more thing." this year, however, he announced the Mac Pro right at the beginning, moved on to Leopard almost immediately thereafter and all of the sudden he thanked us all for coming and told us we have an exciting week ahead of us. While that's true, i sure expected a LOT more from the keynote.

Another Mac/Apple fan here. And yeah, I was very disapointed with the keynote. Everything discussed was 100% expected. Such as the Mac Pro and going over Leopard. To tell you the truth watching the live type feed of the keynote was 90 minutes of my life that I totally wasted.

By the way, I'm also in school majoring in Marketing and Public Relations and plan to work for either Apple Computer or BMW.

cannot wait to run my apps on the xserve with the dual-core intel xeon. my little database is gona fly

I saw the new lights-out management tool which sound cool. I am currently using timbuktu to connect to the server from my mac workstation. I cannot get timbuktu on my pc to connect to the mac xserve. I am running timbuktu 8.5 on all machine and only the pc is not able to connect (what a pain). I think the network group made a change that causes my timbuktu on my pc to not able to connect to the mac. I get ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx not responding message.

if you need cross-platform remote management tool, i'd recommend VNC. it's free and works quite well.

Look like it is also open source, does that imply that it is not secure to use it? Thanks for the suggestion might give it a try but not comfortable with the open source thing.

why would open source not be secure? it's like saying OS X is not secure since it is, after all, open source.

no dude, it's secure. open source only means other developers can contribute code to it. that doesn't mean, however, that anyone can just go and write whatever they want. in order to commit changes you make and check them in the source tree, there is a fleet of reviewers that first look at what you've changed and see if it's any good.
