Tire question (Dunlop Star Spec)

Those of you who are running these tires, what size are you running? A tire guy says I can't fit 265 Dunlop SS Z1's. I am confused by this.

i'm guessing you're trying to run them on stock rims?

the rears of the E9X with 18s is an 8.5" rim. the max width tire you can get on that rim is 255. its out of spec for a 265, min width for those are 9"

the problem with a tire too wide is the sidewalls lose strength being stretched inward....

the bold/italicized text is the rim width range recommended by dunlop. stock rims are 8.5 in the rear, too narrow.

265/35ZR18
Load Index 93 = 1433lbs (650kg) per tire

Agreed. 255/35R18 works well and the Z1 Star Spec runs on the wide side anyway.

How do you like these? Do they provide a better launch as well as track grip?

The Z1's run VERY wide! The first batch we ever got, we were amazed and how wide they ran compared to Generals.

10.3 vs 10.0 for the same size (255/35/18)

So they help out on drag launches too? Am I asking too much for a tire to be good for tracking and 1/4 drag races?
