New it is 499, now they have an SSTT2 which I think is 599.
There is also a similar tune the JB+ which is the same type of TMAP tune and its is being sold for 279.

Or buy a used SSTT in the for sale section for $179-250.

Yah they upgraded to keep up with the adjustability of the JB+, But with the SSTT2 the max is +4. So I beleive you are only gaining +0.5psi over the standard SSTT.

..plus easier access of boost dial for the 135i, plus overheat and overboost protection, plus no need to buy expensive scanning tool.

Really?

So your telling me that if you crank the new SSTT2 up to 100% your not going to get a code? Is that a fact? If so who has tested? I want proof instead of your hearsay..

By all means get the SSTT2 crank that puppy up, assume you have no codes.... Thats your warranty your gambling with not mine!

Edit: For the price of the SSTT2 you can get the JB+ and the BT tool, which the BT tool is not only for clearing codes.. Its for peace of mind in regard to whats going on with your car.

JB+ has over boost protection and over-temperature protection. Both for the engine via the air intake temperature sensor and the microconroller via internal functions. Running more than 2.75psi with ANY tmap tune may trigger detection codes. There are documented cases of this with the fixed boost SSTT @ 3.5psi. You need the BT cable if you want to make more than 40-50hp to the wheels and are concerned with your warranty. With the JB+ you can also adjust your boost level down to the 2psi range and have a lot of safety margin. All this for $279 + $7 shipped.

You may be right but I have not seen one documented case of SSTT(1) associated codes. I don't mean to be such a bother but someone needs to play devil's advocate. Since there isn't a consumers report for tuning products, someone needs to balance the infomercials and testimonials from all the 19 year old vendor fanboy / concubines.

The discussion regarding the need for underhood temperature monitoring still has not been resolved. The JB+ camp says it isn't necessary but the SSTT camp states that it is. Both can't be true. It would be very helpful for all of the SSTT and JB+ users and potential buyers if a representative of each product could have a civil discussion on this forum.

Actually, not only is it not necessary, but apparently doesn't exist either:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=258677

It seems "someone" mixed up circuit temperature protection, which both have, with engine bay temperature protection. It makes sense, since the SSTT is encased in epoxy completely isolating it from the engine bay.
