E90 Coilover Advice, new to BMW

Hello,

Just recently bought an E90. I got the Dinanstage 2 installed. The guy who did it is very knowledgeable and has a shop in Glendale. He recommended the TC Kline's which are $2500. I have seen the KW Varient 2's for $1600, and the Bilsteins for $1700. He sais the KW v2's are not that good, and then Bilsteins are ok. Suggested Dinan stage 1 shocks and springs if i didn't go for the TC Klines. I want to lean towards coilover like the KW's or the bilstein.

Big difference in price. Is it warranted? If it is , then I'll buy the TC Klines.

This is my daily driver/street type driving, not track. Jus twant to lower it a bit and get some good turning.

Can someone give me some advice, reply on these coilovers vs. price. Opinions, etc?

Thanx,

Peter

I did a significant amount of research before purchasing my coils, and I decided to go Bilstein. After living with them for several months, I couldnt reccomend them more highly. The ride is fantastic, without being too firm and the car was transformed!

Throwing another brand into the mix - JIC Cross (**********s carries them I believe). I've had them almost a year and they're fantastic. Very well controlled in all situations and the ride comfort is outstanding considering they're using a higher spring rate than KW.
On the street - way more grip then you're going to be able to use. On the track - no stock suspension car will have a chance in the turns.

I ended up going with Dinan on my car. I really liked the the fact that they were revalved. I read an interesting article about shocks and how inconsistant they can be from the factory. The dinan coilovers are koini shocks with custom valving. I've had the stage three on my car for a about 3 weeks now. The ride isn't that far from the stock zsp and the handling is far better.

I'm happy with KW V2.
I haven't heard too much negative about them.
Why doesn't your shop guy like them?

i have Bilsteins pss9 on my car. i had just there lowering kit on my e36 m3 and now have the coilovers on my 335 and love them. the ride is very smooth and not to much different then stock. I also got ride of my run flats so that probly helped out with the ride quality.

As you stated you will be driving on the street only. If there is no foreseeable track use, go with the kw v2, if you are, then you will be much happier with the TCK

IMHO

TC Klines would probably be overkill for you if you're not tracking it. They are an expensive linear (no initial softness for little bumps) setup plus the top adjusters hit the 335 strut brace.

Whatever your choice a progressive spring setup is probably the way to go.

A little negative camber would transform your car. M3 Wishbone and tension rod in the front is a great upgrade along with a good progressive coilover.
