where to buy tires (LI, Queens)
I need to get new tires for my wheels. 235/35/19 and 265/30/19. I'm looking for Michelin sport pilot PS2 RFTs. Anyone know where I can buy these?

I got the same size kumho's non RFTs from Tire Rack, they had the best price (for those tires) and shipping was fast (3 days), if that helps.
I would really recommend non RFT on 19s, are those CSLs? |

you can transfer your old TPMS to your new wheels. If not you can purchase new sensors.

Kumho tires are bleh. Thats like bottom line whatever tires. At least stick with Michelin or Toyo or something good. Everyone rocks new wheels, but then wraps em with cheap ass rubber.
PS2 RFTs are hard, and regular PS2s I would not recommend to drive in the rain. Its a soft tire but the low tread makes it easy to hydroplane. Lots of customers of mine who have GT3s have swapped them out in favor of other tires... |

does it have to be 235/265? I'm getting rid of my bridgestone potenza RFT's but they are 225/35/19 and 255/30/19..my new tires should come in Friday so thats when they are coming off..they have about 90-95% tread left...90 being the rears and 95 up front

you do not have to replace the TPMS's however, someone once told me that the corners they come off of they have to go back on, how true, I dont know. I have found best prices for tires at Tirerack.

235/265 is the optional size....but 225/255 is the oem size. either way i think getting RFT's in 19's cost an arm and a leg...to be honest you should just get regular tires, they handle much better and with the cost of rft's, you could have bought 2 sets of regular tires probably.

the cheapest source for TPMS sensors (if you need them, if you're just replacing tires, you dont need to replace them, they stay on the rim) is tire rack, 196 for OE beru sensors. OEM bmw sensors (made by beru, but sold through bmw) are 300+. i have three sets of beru OE sensors, and one set of OEM BMW ones, they are exactly the same. get the tires from tire rack and have them dropshipped to an installer. you'll save on the nassau county sales tax and they're usually cheaper than any brick and mortar store. I've heard good things about Al's Hubcaps in Mineola. they have a Hunter TC 3500 tire changer and a GSP 9700 road force balancer, the same equipment as the dealership, and pretty much required to handle runflats. just sent one of my friends that lives near there to get a tire replaced on her 528xi.

Kumho's are great smoother than 17" RFTs, I was so worried that I would feel every single imperfection on the road when I switch to 19s but I've had em for a month now and don't have any regrets |

you can call gary directly or, if you're impatient and busy during the day like me:
Open a browser window to www.tirerack.com open a new window and goto this URL: http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/TPMSS...=Sport+Package click add to cart and close that window. now in the first window, if you click on cart, the sensors and valve stems will be in there. you only need the sensors if you're getting new wheels btw, not if you're just getting new tires. if you want to go with non-runflats, there's a compact spare that you can throw in the trunk. full info here: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=297373 opens up alot more options in terms of tires. my 19" goodyear F1s ride better than my 18" runflats, despite the smaller sidewall. i bubbled an 18" runflat within 4K miles of getting the car. so when i switched to 19s, i bought a bunch (8) of goodyear F1s in the front fittement since they were on sale, and with my S60, i had blown five or six front tires in three years. well, since getting rid of the crappy breyton race gts rims, i haven't had a single wheel/tire related problem. i do keep the compact spare in the trunk for around town, and i have a full sized spare for long distance trips (>300 miles) but, knock on wood, haven't had to use either in over a year despite the horrible roads in lower manhattan and everywhere else in NYC.

I don't know about the TPMS.. But I buy the tires from All Weather Tires in Huntington NY (30-40 mins from Queens). Their prices are pretty much same as tire rack + installation. Give them a try.

well i went looking for tires and no one can find those size tires in run flats. they have bigger tire sizes, which means i'll have to roll my fenders. i ordered that TPMS from tire rack, thank you orient.
