interesting but probably not worth it..i have seen spacers but there purpose was to cool the air comming in from the intake..i have no idea about the "turbulence" claim and its worth

Garage List
Most of the cars i've seen use throttle body/intake manifold spacers, are n/a cars. I cant say ive seen many forced inducted cars use them...

Larger plenum tends to help torque. (Or so I've heard)

What happens is that a piston will do an intake stroke, and draw air from the intake manifold.

This lowers the pressure in the manifold.

Towards the end of the intake stroke, the pressure in the manifold is lower than the beginning of the intake stroke, and so the piston has a harder time drawing in air as it gets later in the intake stroke.

Having a larger plenum will make the pressure drop between beginning of intake stroke, and end of intake stroke, a smaller difference. Basically, you get improved air intake flow.

After the intake stroke is done, the intake manifold air pressure has to rise again as the intake gasses diffuse into the intake manifold. (Be it under pressure (FI) or not, the gasses still have to flow back in). This causes shock waves which to some extent disrupt air flow.

Having a larger plenum means that there is more volume from which to draw intake gas. This larger volume acts like a buffer, causing a less dramatic drop in pressure every time there is an intake stroke. Less drama = weaker shock waves.

Truth is, it works. Although for mos of us it's not a big deal.

I'm sure if you were pushing massive hp, and pushing a ton of air and a bunch of rpm, this mod would be more significant...
Just like porting your valves is 'whatever' until you *need* them ported. Then it's a big difference.
