HPFP failures in Canada only

Just wanted to do a poll to see how many HFPF failures there are in Canada for the 335I. With the huge list of complaints surfacing, I noticed that most of the problems are based in the US. I wanted to see if it is isolated there or not. Please select all that apply to you.

I didn't have to replace my HFPF but since my car is relatively new and low mileage I won't count on my experience too much...

Shell is the only one without ethonol in their premium fuel (for now)
Sunoco, Petrocan and Esso all have up to 10% (so they claim)

Unfortunately, there is no pan-Canadian answer to this question. As I mentioned in another thread, through regional supply contracts, gas companies by each other's gas and then mix in their additives. In your case, you're likely buying Petro Canada or Shell because both have refineries in Montreal. Whether there is an ethanol free option likely depends on whether there is a refinery available that sells it.

In Sask. (and Alta. I believe) Shell V-power 91 is ethanol free. I'm not sure about the rest of the country.

I live in Calgary and the refined gas comes right from Alberta. Heaviest use of ethanol here is Husky/Mohawk at 10% so they claim. Too bad because they are rated at 94 octane. I have only used Shell V-Power since I got my car a couple weeks ago. I wonder if there is a counter additive to nullify the damaging effects ethanol has on our FP's?

B.C. Chevron doesn't use Ethanol.....yet

Well thankfully BC Chevron's haven't jumped on the misguided bandwagon yet, but it looks like the government is going force them down the dumb and dumber route....

Here is a reply to an email I sent to the local Chevron refinery:

Quote:
Thank you for your email.

Currently, Chevron gasoline in Canada does not contain ethanol. However, we cannot apply this statement indefinitely. Anytime soon, Chevron gasoline may contain ethanol in compliance to regulatory provisions for ethanol that apply to our products in B.C.

Chevron has not begun to blend ethanol yet. The province of B.C. has issued an E5 gasoline mandate for 2010 but have issued no clarification as to whether this means as of Jan 1 or by the end of Dec 31. Regardless, our plan is to be compliant to such mandate.

Sincerely,

Mr. Chevron Representative guy

I should have been more specific, that is Ontario only. Shell in the US has up to 10% ethonol, it may in Quebec as well. Not sure about Ultramar.

I run Sunoco 94, but am really debating whether to go for Shell V-Power. The fuel economy on Ultra 94 blows.. Only thing holding me back is that I love my JB3 Map7 as a daily driver
