Pot holes are not good.

So I live where roads don't exist. Instead we have potholes that roam the many streets and highways that I end up taking every morning and evening. So my question is this. Is there any part of the car, that has a tendency to become loose? I say this because I have started to notice every once in a while when I accelerate on the gas pedal I feel that something has become loose. Car doesn't have that solid feeling. It is very hard to explain. There is no noise what so ever but a feeling instead. When I am idle no problem, just acceleration. Any ideas? 6sp manual, 330i, 30,000 miles.

The rear suspension subframe bushings are known to deteriorate quickly in these cars if you do much spirited driving. Search under the Suspension section and you'll see some picks of the mush they turn into. Does if feel like the rear is less planted or sloppy?

Pfft when I was a student at UMD I lived in College Park. If you think those roads are bad just take a quick trip north to NY, MA, NJ or CT and you'll be wishing the roads were as nice as they are in MD. A freshly paved road in CT is like off roading in MD (outside of Baltimore at least)

I'll have to take a look at this. I drove it today and felt fine. I've noticed its off and on. Probably will be back tomaro. I wouldn't say I feel anything towards the rear of the car, more towards the front. It's hard to explain the problem, but here's another shot at it. So everytime I press on the gas, I get that feeling from the pedal that something has become loose. Makes the gas pedal feel "unsmooth" when accelerating. Like if there is a little resistance. It feels "unsmooth" through all my gears. I don't know if that made any sense, but thats all I got. thanks

If it's the actual pedal that is "unsmooth" then check your floor mat to make sure it's not catching on the pedal or so close that the pedal is pushing on it.

If it's the acceleration that is not smooth then it could be a number of things like fuel starvation, a loose wire, etc. You would need a professional or in-person diagnosis by someone familiar with the car.

Or is it the suspension in front feeling loose when it unloads during acceleration?

Hi
Out of curiosity,Do you experience a bumpy ride sensation ( when driving on a decent flat highway) or any issues with the wheels alignment?
Thanks

Thanks for your input. There is nothing wrong with the pedal itself. The pedal is being affected by something within the car. I'm not sure if it is a engine or suspension problem. I have had to take it into the dealer mutiple times for a wheel alignment service because of all the dam potholes. First time i asked for the specs, and the alignment was off by 14.7 mm. It is supposed to be within 1.3-2.5mm range. This could have taken a toll on my suspension. Looked under my car other day, didn't really have a clue what I was looking at. I think I have come up with the best way to describe my problem however. Under accleration, gas pedal feels like its rattling without the noise.

No such problems and we seem to have same spec cars.
I've been driving in College Park for the past 2 years.
I hit a crater last year and got 2 bended rims:
- wheel repair: $400
- Alignment: $100

Not sure if related, but the car developed a weird noise coming from one wheel. I could not tell which one.

Replaced all 4 tires and noise still there.

Finally, the dealer believed me it was a wheel bearing.
After inspection, that's what it was on one of the non-damaged wheels.

I took the car to NJ and I agree that MD roads are pretty good compared to
other places.
