Totaled my 08 Infiniti, now car hunting begins
Well, I totaled my EX35 over the weekend. Long story short...Was on a winding road going 25mph and hit a utility pole. We both walked out of the car without a scratch. Just a little sore but that's it. The Infinti saved us really. Even the tow guy said I should get another EX35 and how lucky we were.
So now the car hunt begins. I'm not sure what to get. I drive about 9k miles a year so not looking to spend $45k for another car. I am open to getting a good used so my price range can be from $15k - $25k, which opens up a LOT of good cars for me to choose. I am leaning towards a used 07 Volvo s80 V8 or a 07 S60 R. Even though I really don't know much about Volvos except for their safety (which is key for me right now), the price is right for a luxury sporty car. I'm even looking at the Saab 93, 95, VW CC Sport and GLI. They are discounting 08 and 09's Saabs like crazy. I'm really all over the place. Any suggesting are welcomed.

I think you should thank God for providing you a strong car.
Anyway, if your looking for something relaxing in the mid size, look into a Avalon. It's pretty impressive for a comfy ride.

The Avalon is hardly a midsize car.
The S80 is a nice car. You could also look at a slightly used Acura TL.

My vote goes to the GTi.
Used car market is flooded with good deals.

s60R is a great car for sure. The maintenance might be costly for this car though. Better get an extended warranty if that's possible.
With your budget I would also look into E90 330i. |

You can find a used rdx for around 25k, a TL is also a great car if you don't need an suv, and the 3g (04-08) looks great if not better than the 09
keep us updated and good luck on your search |

You could look into a slightly used Acura TL, or another Infinity, but G35 this time if you want. Or maybe even a Cadillac CTS.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I spent the majority of the long weekend test driving a bunch of cars, 08/09 Maxima, 09 Accord, 08 Volvo S80 V8 & 3.2, 08 Volvo S60 3.2 AWD, 05 ML350, 09 Mazda6, 08 Jetta. I know there were a couple more cars but can't think of any right now.
The tough part is that I'm not the only decision maker in this car hunt. The car comes down to the comfort of the passenger seat, as my S/O has a bad back and needs the "right" passenger seat. BMWs are out of the question unfortunately. My S/O hated all my BMW passenger seat. With that said, the leading car now is the Volvo S60. I really wanted the S80 V8 but it was not ergonomically friendlier as the S60. IMO, the S80 was the most amazing and comfortable car...plush plush seats. So now I’m looking for a clean 1 owner S60 AWD. There are plenty to choose from but most cars on the Volvo lots were rentals and I’m not thrilled about buying a rental. Needless to say that the S60 is a boring ride, nothing exciting to comment on except that it does have a smooth quiet ride. My rationale (as I try to convince myself) is that I drive maybe 8k – 9k miles a year (usually drive our 08 Escape) and a car is now a means of safe and comfortable transportation. For now, no more zoom zoom zoom. I’ll post the pictures of the totaled Infinti. It was amazing to go back to the junk yard to see it again and to think that we both walked out of that car. It was surreal. We had our angels looking over us that day for sure.

OH yeah, the other cars were G35 and 07 Acura TL. The TL has the worst seats for both of us. I felt like I was sitting on a wooden chair.

No S60r? My brother owns one and it is a blast. Seats are badass, the 6speed manual transmission is amazing, I would definitely recommend one. The ride is adjustable from comfort-sport-advanced, comfort is just that--extremely comfortable. Advanced allows for better launches and a much sportier feel, but very harsh. Drive one if you have not already, they are awesome.
