Bluetooth connection with phones not on BMW's list

I am going to buy new LG VX8500 aka 'Chocolate phone' from Verizon, but I am not sure if it will pair up with my '06 325i. Is it possible that I might lose my bluetooth function if I buy the new phone? Or are our e90s will pair up with any of the bluetooth phones out there? It took months and numerous visits to few dealerships to have my bluetooth function back in my car. I do not want to lose it again, since it is just soooo nice to have!!

Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You never know what will work or not. Even different firmware versions of the same phone may not work the same.

Do what I did and find a Phone shop with a car park outside, then explain to the staff and they will come out to your car with you to try a phone with your sim in it (or their demo sim)

Tried several that way.

My mom just got the 8500. I paired it up to my car fine. Address book transferred and calls were clear. The connection wasnt as strong as my v710 but its still good.
