Report bad location/add new location to navi?

So the other day im going through convinence stores in the navi list and i saw wawa!!! i was soooo excited. cause florida isnt suppose to have any wawa's. so of course i clicked it and started following the directions. my car accuratly took me to the deep ghetto. and then from there, like an industrial park area. that was even more scary. there was no wawa. there was a little, horribly runned down store, with giant metal curtains blocking the doors and a broken down car in the parking lot. how can i report places like this before someone gets shot and killed?
also, when i left and got to safety, i was scrolling through more stuff, and released every cd store in town was on the list, except mine. that sucks. how can i add mine?
Thanks

Why don't you do the USual thing and sue someone?

It must be someone elses fault? Maybe it was BMW's fault for giving you the keys without sending you on a map reading / self defense class? Maybe. Maybe the poor people in the ghetto would like to delete your rich neighbourhood from their sat nav (if they had it)

Seriously, only stores that PAY to be on these CD's get on them. So it seems only to include large brand stores or stores that NEED the business. You can't change any data as its all on a DVD, but you can add a 'new destination' on your vehicle and call it 'CD shop' for example, by either address entry or map location.

Don't have an answer for either question, but I know where you're coming from. On Sunday I had BMW SOS give me directions to Organized Living... only to find the building borded up. I asked at the Linens & Things next door, and they said that Organized Living went bankrupt.

Hahaha, you definitely won't have one in UK (can't even find one near NYC). I haven't seen one since I left Philadelphia. It's a small convenience store that generally stays open 24hrs a day and is great if you need a Philadelphia hoagie at 3am.

I also had the navigation lead me to the wrong location. I was driving in an unfamiliar area and got hungry. The navigation showed a Wendy's as the nearest fast food location, but instead I only found warehouses and 18 wheelers. I guess Wendy's had a hard time attracting business in such a remote area and went out of business.

uhhh, are you serious?
there are probably 1,000's and 1,000's of locations on the navi that no longer exsit or are wrong. i dont expect mr. bmw to single handedly check each one himself, so wouldnt it be helpful if ever time you wound up at the wrong place, you can report it for deletetion or correction for the next update?
im sure that makes sense to you.
but yes. i do hold bmw responsible for sending me to a horrible part of town, to find that what i was looking for, was not there.
i hear acura and lexus have a better navigation system then bmw, i wonder if this happens in their cars just as often?
and the cd stores that are on the navi now, are not huge stores, they are my direct competition, so how can i get on some sort of a list for their next update. obviuosly if they were able to get on it, i can also, i just probably need to be directed to the right place.

have you tried calling your local bmw dealer? ask them cause i think most of us here are as lost as you.

when you find the answer, let us know please, just in case the same thing happens again. [which im sure it will]

You can submit a map error on the Navteq website http://update.navteq.com/ you can even track a status of the error.

I agree - assuming the info is provided by Navteq (most GPS's info I've used is, but I'm not sure about BMW), then notify Navteq. I've done it in the past for another GPS unit -- notifying that the unit wanted me to turn left at a "no left turn" intersection and they were appreciative and responsive. They responded by e-mail and the error was fixed in the next map update!

Dude, that seems a little harsh. Thought you britts were polite? Don't make us sell you to France.

No, it's not that Brits aren't polite...it's the law of the Universe that when cdheaven starts a thread, the first few posts flame him for no reason, then the reasonable people get on board after.

I think this is the first time I've read about how to fix an error on Nav, and it's pretty damn cool that cdheaven can get his problems solved.

cd, how about a follow-up post, eh?

yea, i will definitely post a follow up. the navteq website and error report system seem real easy and it should definitely solve the problem, the only thing is you gotta know the address and cross streets and other stuff im gonna have to go out to my car and refind the place to get.
There probably should be a feature for every location on the navi that will automatically report an error, cause for every 100 errors people find, how many of them are gonna go to the navteq website, remember or find all this info and actually report it??
