Songs doubled on display

First of all I searched for a solution, but didn't see anyone with the same problem.

I have a ipod mini, hooked up to my car with the usb plug only (no 3.5mm jack needed) It works fine, but at some point for no good reason, it started showing all of my music doubled. In every folder, every way to look at a song each song is listed twice. I don't seem to have this problem with any other device. My mini is updated to the latest software... i don't want to format it... any ideas?

Sounds like a compatibility problem. Try going back to older software for the mp3 player?

Have you tried unhooking it for a little while and then re-connecting it back? I've had that happen a couple times, I just ignored it and/or disconnected the iPod for a while and the problem went away.

yeah, my last trip i plugged in my iphone and my wifes nano... when i plug the mini back in, same problem. I've also unplugged it overnight to change music. same problem remains. I'm stumped. Any way to reset the car's index file?
