Wiring for Red Clown Nose on Rear View Mirror

Does anyone know where the wires are run for the red clown nose (on the rear view mirror) is located? I wanted to tap into that wire so I could trigger that light if possible.

It is for the alarm, but I am thinking of using it for something else if I can access the wire without having to run a wire through the roof liner.

All the wires run to the control unit above your map lights/sunroof control (clown nose, garage opener, etc). There's a pinout diagram somewhere on this site i think to figure out which one is the LED wire.

EDIT: whoops, you don't want to go through the headliner? The wires go through a rubber boot but there's very little room to get a tap in there. Maybe you could solder a tap right at the wiring harness on the back of the mirror but that's going to be a challenge unless you have really tiny hands

I may just leave it alone then. When you remove the ceiling liner it never seems to seal the same.

You don't need to remove the headliner, you just remove the map light console and fish the wires through the rubber boot. But I believe the wires for the led light in the clown nose are already there, so you can tap into them pretty easily (the standard mirror has 2 wires that go to it).

Search the DIY section for "homelink mirror retrofit" or similar. there are a few posts detailing how to get into the wiring above the map light and how to take the mirror off.
