The "Grand Dahlia" Tracking Thread! (Late-May '09 Productions)

So I just got info. from my client advisor that my 335i has made this boat!

It has departed as of May 27th, 2009 and is scheduled for a June 20th, 2009 docking at California port.

Who else made it on this boat?!?!

Just for your reference and comparison:

(according to 1-800 system)
-Ordered 2009 335i Coupe on May 6th.
-Production started May 14th
-Production completed May 20th
-Car was in-transit to port as of May 22nd
-Car sat at port (apparently) and did not make the "May 25th" boat which was the Rotterdam Express. Instead, it made the May 27th boat, which is "Grand Dahlia"
-Car still at port waiting for shipping vessel. May 29th (the 1800 number is totally outdated by 3 days, the car had been loaded on boat before the 27th)
-Car now in transit May 30th (the 1800 number is totally outdated by 3 days, the boat has set sailed and on it's way to Newhampshire U.K.)

NICE!!!

What is your status when you call the 1-800 number?

Does it still say you are at the port?

Let me know!

My CA is being weak and is being lazy and claims that she can't see where the car is. All she tells me is that my car will be here end of June, no later.

I am going to use deductive reasoning and figure out where my car is by myself.

My car finished production on the 19th, which is 1 day before you. Both cars are heading to California. I currently hear the same status on the phone when I call as of the 29th which is that my car is currently at the port awaiting a shipping vessel.

I am going to assume my car is on the same boat as you, thus arriving in SoCal on June 20 and then to NorCal within a few days after that.

you need to give your CA a slap in the face. All CA's can pull this information from their system. It is the reason why the 1-800 number says "Call your BMW center for more information".

This is why I hate CA's, they take your money and run when the sale is complete.

A lot of CA's are lazy and they are chasing sales rather than status. This is why I chose a particular dealer after shopping around six southern california dealers before I picked the one I wanted, because I finally found a sales man who was so nice, even after I ordered the car, he stood by in the parking lot at night chatting with me about cars and M3's and racing. Every update that has happened so far, including going into production, going on a boat, he has sent me this "status" page from the system he pulled. And I'm sure he will continue to do so when the car lands at the VPC.

I AM ON THIS BOAT!

I AM IN TRANSIT!

I can give my CA the benefit of the doubt, she was on the money about saying my car would arrive end of June, no worries!

^ I currently have an 07 E90. It has not given me any fuel pump issues. I have enjoyed this car a lot!

I wanted to step up to the M3 but the current economic situation is preventing me from taking on a $1000+ a month payment.

I test drove an M3 and it sure is nice to hear the V8 but it didn't have the low end that the 335 has.

So to compromise, I ordered the M-Sport and I am very excited for it.

Just a warning, you will kill ur back tires ASAP from driving this car hard, I suggest getting a set of non-runflats once u get the car.

You will enjoy your 335, it's a beast and with the M-Sport package, you can't go wrong!!!

I leased my current 335 for 24 months. It went by sooo fast.

I am re-leasing the new 335 for 36 months. A 2-yr lease is over $800 which is too much!

BMWFS has good lease programs, might as well take advantage of them. I did think about financing since the rates are killer but I like to get a new car, every few years.

^ I know!

In reality though, the cars are only 3 weeks and a few days away. I am guessing we will take delivery no later than the weekend of June 27.

I hope the boat arrives early!

Looks like the boat can't be tracked any more since it is too far from the shores of Europe.

Let's hope it sails safely through the Atlantic and arrives in Panama super quick!

How long does it take for the boat to travel from Europe to Panama?

Stopped by my dealer today and asked about locking in the $1000 loyalty cash rebate for my e92 335i and they claim it has been done.

I also sat in a car with Gray Poplar wood trim, damn it is fucking classy. Glad I ordered it.

yeah i got the gray poplar too. i was gonna get aluminum which stands out a bit better but the gray poplar was just too sexy to pass up.

oh my oh my, 25 more days and counting!

thats 600 hours left, 36,000 minutes, or 2,160,000 seconds before we can pick up the car!

First post here! I'm mostly a Bimmerfest guy, but I saw this thread and new I had to chime in.

Unless someone speaks up, I'm almost certain I have the oldest BMW on this boat

I dropped of my E90 in Amsterdam for re-delivery on April 21st! It didn't get on the Grand Dahlia until May 26, my ETA shows as 6/19, not 6/20.

Anyone have any idea why they'd be different? At this point I'm not expecting the car before July 1, so anything before that will be a treat.

Before anyone asks, it's a 6MT of course. For those who care, here are some pictures from my Delivery Experience:

Sadly, I had no mods. Kept it 100% stock.

The only thing I did was shave off the 335i emblem.

When I got the 335i, I had an 05 Tacoma, all lifted and modded. The 335 was only supposed to be a chill car to drive on the weekends. That is why I kept it stock. I leased it to blow me over for my last 2 years of college, and now that I graduated I am going to get myself the coupe.

The coupe I do plan to mod a bit, but not much. I definately want to get the painted sidemarkers, and a shadowline front grille. I plan to shave the 335i emblem off. My friend is also very close to the main guy at Vishnu Tuning, so I might chip the car with Procede at a killer price. We will see though.

If the situation permits, I will lower it on H&R Sport springs and install some 19" VMRs V710s (not sure if they will be Black or Silver) or some type of 20" wheels like the Beyern Mesh or similar.

What kind of plans do you have for your new whip?
