Question about removing MOST devices
Trying to satisfy my own curiosity, if you remove a device from the MOST bus that the vehicle is coded for, i.e. a CDC or a Sat radio unit, does the car throw any errors or complain that the device isn't present anymore? (Like someone had a CDC installed and coded, decided they don't use it and removed it to sell it to someone.) Or does it just acknowledge the device isn't present anymore and grey out all the options on the iDrive display?
This is assuming you either put a diag loop on the MOST cable to loop the signal, or you reconfigured the MOST routing block to remove the device's prewiring from the active MOST loop, I know that not doing so would generate a MOST error because the ring isn't complete. |

I doubt it will screw up your entire system but a display of EMPTY or ERROR for that device is a possibility.

If you loop the signal, it will be greyed out on the CID and you'll get an error for the removed device in the CCC for no response. It depends on the coding of the radio (CCC) if you get an error or not. It will look for the removed device because it's included in the coding data compared to the vehicle options and VIN number. |
