I have worked out an invoice + $500 deal on an E92 with M Sport.

However, the pisser is that the dealer will not budge on charging for the floor mats. Is this pretty typical? Seems a bit petty in a car in this price range. My last two Range Rovers technically didn't come with mats either, but the dealer of course threw them in (nice ones to boot).

invoice plus 500 is already a pretty good deal for you, especially on an m-sport, I'd just shrug the mats and get the all weathers

I haven't used my floor mats since week one. I went and bought the rubber all-weather mats and haven't removed them since. The carpet floor mats are garbage anyways.

What kind of fees are you paying on top of your invoice + $500 deal?

In my case, my sales guy told me that my $180 Training/Service Fee is mostly a cover-up for him to throw in the mats and a full tank.

There was the $180 training fee plus the $400 MACO fee. Plus doc prep fee. And the you should feel privileged to be buying a BMW fee. Ok, maybe I made that last one up.

The floor mats are priced separately and the dealers pay BMW for them, which means they aren't included unless you negotiate them into the deal. If I was paying MSRP, I'd have no problem asking for them. If your dealer is already doing a thin $500 over type deal, I wouldn't expect them to throw them in. Just order them from United BMW, they should be under $100 from them.

Paid $130 for my mats as well as the $180 training , $325 MACO, $50 gas and $399 doc plus numerous other fees.

We felt we got a fair deal overall so no regrets

I don't know what to think about this... it is of course a good idea to negotiate mats and such before ordering, but remember that Doc fee is probably the most bullshit loaded fee that a dealer can charge in states where it isn't regulated by law (some states have a Doc fee limit of around $50). When you pay a $400+ Doc fee, $180 Training, $400 Maco (advertising, charged by bigger dealers only) you better get mats, full tank, a keychain and take their coffee maker home with you.

I am happy we're making good deals on our Bimmers and even happier I personally went with a smaller dealer and got Invoice + Destination + $180 Training (<= basically floor mats and gas) + $399 Doc + Tax. No Maco, not a dime more.

As soon as I take delivery of the beast and everything proceed smoothly (crossing fingers) I'll make sure to share my Sales person's information on here, he's made it flawless and stress free for me, everything via email.

At first my dealer wasn't going to throw in the mats either, but then i said well i've had friends that got theirs for free, so he finally gave it to me. Though i got the carpet when i asked for the all-season ones. lol

Cool, I'm glad you got a deal you were happy with, and your car is going to be awesome.

I think sensible folks can certainly differ on the reasonableness of having to pay for mats on a $500 over deal. My point earlier was just to say that the floor mats are extra, that the dealers pay for them, and that if you've already negotiated your deal that the dealer may well refuse to throw them in. If they do, the buyer can either pay for them or walk from the deal.

Bottom line is that dealers are going to make their money one way or another, whether it's in the selling price, doc fee, or otherwise. Informed buyers know all of their costs when buying a car, and negotiate their deal as a package. To me, if a buyer gets ambushed by a high doc fee or paying for mats, it just means he or she didn't ask the right questions and prepare enough prior to delivery.

Should mats cost extra in a $50K car? Probably not, and it strikes me as a tad bit underhanded. But it's a waste to piss and moan about it. BMW sets their pricing, we are free to buy or not buy their cars. Lots of folks complain after the fact and get them thrown in, but to me it's not worth souring what should be a special experience over 90 bucks.

I happily paid for the mats in my 135, because I knew that my deal was already very thin for both the dealer and my CA. If I had bought my 1 when demand was high and paid more for it, I would have negotiated the mats in.

Folks, just make sure the mats are covered in your deal terms, and don't count on your dealer being willing to eat $80-$90 in profit otherwise. Enjoy your cars!

On my CPO purchase 2 weeks ago or so I told them it was a deal breaker over the phone, I said if I dont get a set of NEW BMW brand Logo floor mats then the deal is OFF.

i worked from $1000 over invoice, my CA needs to eat too and he's always been very good to me - in the past i've always got carpet and rubber mats, polo shirts, carbon fiber umbrellas and bunch of bmw logo keychains, mugs etc.
