Expensive but happy weekend !
Hi All,
Funny thing happened this weekend. My wife and I were perfectly happy with her current (facelift) E46, but we dropped into our BMW dealer anyway to take a look at the new E90 (we were planning for an upgrade a few years down the track). Salesman - "You're not interested in selling your car are you ? We've got a gentleman coming in this afternoon who is looking for exactly your car's specification." Me - (Spies new 320i M-sport in Black Sapphire with Beige in the corner) - "Hmmmmm, what would be the changeover price to get into that ?" Salesman - "Oh, we can do you a very good deal since you're one of our good customers" One Hour Later. "Congratulations - you can pick up your E90 next saturday". |

i hope you didn't get screwed by this salesman. they have the talent of wrapping a not-so-good of a deal in a really nice "good deal" wrapping.
congrats nonetheless!

Just picked it up !
All the paperwork went through very quickly and so I was able to collect our new E90 M sport today.
Got to say its quite a difference to the E46 in terms of gizmos and I'm afraid to say it but the E46 looks dated parked next to the E90. I love the trip computer and how much of the car it controls in terms of driver preferences. The in-built bluetooth operation is very cool and I'm looking forward to setting up the voice activation feature tomorrow. Our previous E46 was not a sport model and so the E90 rides firmly but is not unpleasant. I can't help wondering though that with the M sports suspension and the 18" wheels it will develop a few rattles later down the track. In terms of sexiness, Black Sapphire with Beige leather rates a 10 out of 10. Overall - extremely happy new owner ! |

It's sort of funny reading the initial posts which assume you might have been fleeced. I'm sure you can judge a good deal. |

Thanks moO moO nEL.
I do like your 323i too. My previous E46 was the same Titan Silver as yours with the black leather interior and aluminium highlights. The dealer had a silver M sport on display next to the Sapphire Black, but I decided to try a different colour this time and go for the Sapphire Black. My only complaint would be that Black is definately going to be a lot harder to keep clean than my old silver E46 ! |

Nice switch! Beautiful new car, great wheels, color, etc!
Not to mention that your wife is happy, you are happy, the "other gentleman" is happy, and your salesman is happy!!

Did it already come with the chrome grill, or did you add it afterwards? And your interior trim looks like piano black (which would be extremly cool), or is it burl wood? |

There's two mods I did to our E46, both of which I've also done to the E90 - fitted the OEM chrome grilles (much easier to fit to an E90 than to an E46 too!) and de-badged the rear (which in my opinion gives BMW's a really cool "I belong on a German autobahn" look).
Only a couple of problems have popped up to date - driver's side rear window failed in the down position yesterday morning. Lucky the wife works near a BMW dealer. They had the car for the day and got the window back up but had to order in a new motor and regulator under warranty which should arrive next week. I've heard about this problem in the E46 (but it didn't occur in our E46 in 38,000kms of driving). Anybody else had this problem in their E90 yet ? The second issue is that my wife isn't used to driving lowered cars with body kits and sports suspension and managed to scrape the front spoiler lip going up a driveway yesterday. I've told her she needs to enter steep driveways at an angle and slow right down when going over speed humps. This car is primarily the wife's daily driver now and unfortunately she's a bit intimidated by it's physical growth in size over the E46 (and expense !). I'm planning on getting her on the BMW Driver Training course soon - maybe this might help her. This car also didn't come fitted with PDC, but I'm planning on getting it retro fitted at some stage soon (I think the wife will need this too). Oh well, what can you do ? Good thing she's a good cook otherwise I wouldn't let her near this car ! haha ! |
