Warranty Covered Update for 2006.2 Nav Disc

Hi Guys,

Having found out that Navtec (the company BMW have contracted to provide their Navigation) inadvertantly missed off the postcode entry on the 2006-2 disc I contacted BMW. They said that they will provide a warranty replacement for those owners who were given this disc to the next version (when it is released).

So when will the next version be released by BMW and Navtec??

Thanks

This will be interesting.
I wonder if they will replace the 2006-1 disk that only has partial post code entry. I only purchased my car inApril and it came with the 2006-1 disk

Most unlikely.

All previous discs only have partial postcode entry.

I doubt anyone having a pre-2006.2 disc will get a free upgrade, because everyone will be in the same potentially-discriminatory situation!

There again, they might & the speed limit may be raised to 155mph!

There are normally 2 DVD updates each year- 2007-1 is likely to be the next disc & will probably be out towards the end of this year.

In the UK, discs prior to 2006-2 do not recognise the entire destination postcode. The European 2006-2 disc has a fault which prevents the entry of (pretty much) any UK postcode.

eg if your postcode is RG12 8TA, the system will only recognise RG12 8- you still need to know the road you are travelling to!

The problem was highlighted in our First UK Meet.
We entered the postcode & the road name & we ended up in a village several miles away from the one we wanted to be in!

It made for a great drive though, so the system isn't totally bogus, as long as you know exactly where you need to be!

I'm assuming this is a UK or EU-only issue that doesn't affect US owners. But if it applies to US owners, too, I wouldn't turn down a free update.

For a nominal fee Navteq should upgrade all disks every year on the production of an original disk but no they want to charge full price and they wonder why people copy disks.

2005-2 definitely has postcode entry Gareth.

You enter the postcode in the city/town field.
