carbon fiber wrapped diffuser
ok guys,
heres my question. i just purchased a m aero rear bumper and diffuser. im getting a bastuck quad exhaust and im going to have to cut my new diffuser to fit the quad exhaust. i was thinking of cf wrapping the cut diffuser and using 3M to attach it and then a coat of urethane. any ideas on if this would work and has anyone seen it before? thanks |

You might be better using vinyl CF to cover it. If your going to use the fabric, you will probably want to use polyester resin and cover it like you would do with fiberglass

Ummm....I could be wrong here and maybe a little naive but....
wouldn't this possibly catch fire? At the very least the wear on the fabric might be more than its worth.

i remember someone asking about this and i believe the vendor at the time (eurodyne) said that the fabric isn't suited for external use. i also think i remember someone stating that the fabric doesn't absorb the urethane evenly so it'd be a real bitch to deal with..... good luck to u if you try. i'd love to see someone pull it off

Couldn't you just find a shop near you that can overlay the vinyl CF on top of the existing diffusor and clear coat it to make it look like a manufactured CF piece?
I'm not too familiar with the process, so I'm not just assuming that can be done? I was thinking about CF my diffusor as well, I also have Mtech rear. But was gonna order BMW Performance diffusor and CF wrap that. I wanted to see if Car Nutz in Bellevue, WA can get that done........... GL
