For just wheels, you dont need anything with much torque to get the bolts off and back on, unless you plan on using it to break the bolts loose too. Otherwise just about any cordless will work including a drill with a socket attachment+socket to get the bolts off and started back on.

No, you can use a cheap Harbor Freight drill too...

If all you are interested in is getting the wheels off and on..

Get a cheap breaker bar to break the bolts loose on the ground. A simple drill with a socket attachment + 17mm socket to remove the bolts and put them back on. Get a torque wrench to tighten to spec once the bolt is seated on the wheel.

yep. breaker bar, cordless Makita drill/driver with 1/2" socket adaptor, and cheap craftsman torque wrench.... four wheels in four mins

you already got other good suggestions.

its easy, breaker bar plus extension and 17MM socket, then spin those suckers off.

Only use the TQ wrench to tighten to 80-90 lb/ft. Dont use your TQ wrench to break your lugs free either, you will break it.

The problem with using any impact wrench to tighten the bolts/lug nuts is that you cant effectively control the torque. More often then not you will overtighten. This will at best stretch the bolt out of spec and at worst shear it right off.

I have an air compressor setup in my garage and on my truck, but when I'm too lazy to reel the hose out I ....

~break loose the bolts with torque wrench
~use my 10v makita li-ion impact driver to remove/install the bolts
~torque wrench to torque it to spec(this process must be done even with air impact gun)

IMO you just remove the first step by using the air compressor, but at the same time you have to wiggle the wheel so that it sets easier when you are using the 10 volt. Also I don't recommend using drills as they were not designed for torque load...10v makita drill and driver set is only 130 at home depot and it is all I use(I have alot more tools). Here are somethings I do with my 10v drill/driver set w/o the use of any other larger drill/driver

Recently renovated my home (kitchen,garage)
Change wheels/suspension w/the exception of use of TW to break bolts loose
Maintain my restaurant(drill through stainless steel)
Build a speaker box for my truck 1" mdf(definitely a little limited here but got it done)
mount my LCD's
ETC....you get the picture

don't bother buying those pepboys cordless impact guns...they burn out and have less toque than my 10v. Stick w/ makita, dewalt, bosch and even ridgid for $70

Nothing is better then the old fashioned breaker bar and torque wrench. Majority of the time, impact wrenches always tend to scratch and damage wheels more then they do help.

Here's what you can use to make the job a tad easier. Go get a cheap impact drill from Harbor Freight. There's one locally near where I live so I went and picked one up for $20. I also got my breaker bar there $9 and a torque wrench ($20). I also got the attachment bits that comes in a pack of 3 for a few more bucks. Just loosen the bolts/lugs with the breaker bar and then use the impact drill to take em out. And the torque wrench to put the bolts/lugs back in. Since it's a impact drill you won't be able to overtighten it and then use your torque wrench to torque it down. It does save time imo.

this is the one i have. But i got it on sale for $19.99. Not the best quality but it'll get the job done. Worked fine when I used self tapping screw on metal as well.

?? Why not use that to lose up the nuts? I don't see a problem to use it to remove the nuts... Maybe I just didn't make it clear ... I don't use it to tighten the bolt, just for removeal...
