Are you putting the DVD in the Navigation (DVD) drive? It wont work in the normal cd slot.

He's talking about playing MP3s from a DVD not a DVD movie. Playing MP3s from a DVD works fine on US cars you just have to stick the disc in the bottom slot where the NAV disc goes.

Only cars with Navigation can even play DVD MP3 discs because of the Navigation drive which has to be a DVD drive due to the size of the navigation discs. The regular slot intended for music only plays CDs. So its mainly a by-product of having navigation not a fully intended feature.

You don't seem to get something pretty basic:

A DVD is NOT a CD. They are as different as a 8-Track vs. a Cassette Tape. So, a CD Drive Mechanism CAN'T read a DVD. So, you CAN'T put your MP3 DVD into the CD drive. It will ONLY Play in the DVD Drive.

The CD Plays in the CD drive and it also can be an MP3 Disk.

Lastly, although I haven't tried it in the BMW, normally a DVD Drive CAN read a regular CD disk. But, there really wouldn't be any reason to do that in the car.

Hope this clears things up for you, SOCALM3.
