JB3 VS C6 Vette?
Hey guys, my cousin just picked up a C6 Vette, completely stock and we're planning on doing a few friendly pulls (on a closed track of course). I have not had any experience with the C6's but am familiar with their capabilities.
Both cars are 6mt which means the driver is a big part of it. Aside from the driver, how will I compare with: e92 335i JB3 1.3 Map 5 (91 octane) DCI Britalman Exhaust Get my FMIC and DP's soon but most likely not in time... We want to do a stock comparison before he adds headers, tune etc. Most likely do runs from a dig, and other roll ons. I just want to get an idea of what to expect. Thanks for the help! |

LS3s are 2008 and later - they make 380-390 at the ground stock.
But you really should at least get it to 93octane so you can run map 7.

Not necessarily mr. monitor. They have been making c6s since 2005 and LS2s are not automatically quicker than modded N54s.

He said his cousin just picked it up, so I assumed it was an LS3. Yeah, I guess maybe if you got a 3-4 year old Corvette, maybe a modded 335i could keep up, I still wouldn't bet on it. The LS2 Vettes are still a couple of hundred pounds lighter, and modded LS2's can become 11-10 second cars really quick and without much $$$. From what I've seen, JB3 335i's are barely 12 second cars.

Ls3 he wins on map 5 Ls2 u mightttt have a chance. i think u might be able to edge him out. Map 7 is a different story. Map 7 and some supporting mods on 93 oct and u might even be able to pull on a Ls3 if you drive it well until about 120mph, then theres no replacement for displacement.

You can tell 06s (and later) from 05s bc they have the GM emblem on the lower rear corner. Quote:
Bold assumption. We arn't talking about what it can do modded. He said before it was tuned/headers. You don't make it to n54tech too often I guess eh? low 12s with just a JB3 is not uncommon. Theres a youtube vid posted yersteday that has an LS2 6speed dead even with an LS1 that has just catback and intake. On MULTIPLE runs. 05 - that was the first year for C6s and Ls2s. 06auto trans were upgraded to 6speeds.

-1, do your research.
I had a 2006 c6, they're fast, no doubt... i also beat one with my e92 tuned with V3.

05 was the complete makeover, and it changed from a 350hp 5.7L to a 400hp 6.0L... but then they got +30hp with the 6.2L ls3 in 2008.
just different wheels and color options =\

Even with the LS2, if he can drive a stick, he'll edge you out.
If it was an LS3 you wouldn't stand a chance. They trap at 116-117+ mph stock. That means at least Map 8 on 95+ Octane with a couple bolt ons just for you to even stay close, but you'd probably still lose. Map 9 on 100 Octane would give you an equal run with an LS3 Vette But keep in mind, $1500 in mods for the LS3 and he's running well into 120+ trap speed. You'd need every bolt on available, 104 Octane and running Map 10 to have a chance then, and you'd probably still lose. Let us know the outcome. |

I pulled an ls2 from 75ish to 140mph on V3 using a v3 map from over a year ago with 91 and no intake upgrade. fwiw, he might have been auto but i dont think so?
